Okay, who here goes self-checkout instead of going to a cashier at the grocery store?

I personally never go to self-checkout if I can help it.
I pretty much always do, it gets me out of the store faster. The self-checkouts here aren't nearly so problematic as they were when they first launched.

Just look at what happens to the majority of celebrities after they make it big...actors, actresses, musicians, etc. Drugs, alcohol, and often overdoses, rinse, repeat.
I don't quite think you know what "majority" means.

Many businesses here would fold under that kind of payroll weight. $15/hr is a really good wage for factory work here. What's good for some is not for others.

I do 100% of the time, unless I have a full shopping cart full of food. I've even done it with a full cart because there was 1 cashier open and the line was like 3 carts deep. I finished ringing up my own shit before the person in front of me in the line had even started being rung up.

Where do you live in NJ? I'm in South Jersey and my rent is pretty cheap. Granted it's just me and a small 2 rooms.
At the corner of I278 and I78.

It's less expensive in the boonies.. but... who wants to live in the middle of nowhere NJ? I looked at a place in a less populated area which was only like $1300 a month, but it was literally a shack. The bedroom was like 10x8 with no closet. Even in CT where I used to live, I got a 1000sqft house plus a 600ft basement for <1300 a month, plus a backyard. That includes taxes and insurance. Yes I took on ownship costs like repairs... but still. NJ is about 40-50% more expensive in real estate than CT is. CA is even worse. I couldn't imagine making 1/3 of what I make right now and still paying for all this shit. I'd have to do nothing but work and have absolutely no hobbies or life, just to get by.

What sucks though is that to cover the cost of rising overheads, any full time workers at these businesses are probably going to lose any benefits they might currently have, since businesses won't be able to afford to keep their margins the same.
