Whos planning on buying xbox?

spaceman

Lifer
Lets face it,the xbox is looking better and better everyday.Does anyone else think the xbox may replace pcs @ lan events?
Imreally excited about this system!!
Whos buying one and why?

I am, because either on release day i will have a dope ass system, or will have 3 times the money i had before buying it at the store, like i had with the playstation2...

I'm not going to plan on buying anything until after E3, which starts in about 12 days, but right now I'm leaning towards the GameCube.

Ok, not to flame anyone, but i dont think that gamecube will be better than xbox. Microsoft has a history of destroying the competition and the xbox will be no exception. Have you seen the movies/screenshots of Halo on the xbox? they are tight. To replace a pc? possibly, but not likely.

I'd rather have a pinball machine.

If I was to buy a piece of Microsoft hardware, it'd be that Replay TVE device that they make (forgot the name). I could see that having real uses.

The x-Box just doesn't do anything for me. 🙁

NO X-Box here! I'm still trying to get over Sega burning me for the second time. And Game Cube! why would I want to play 50 new games of f-in Mario. God that sucks...

yea Gamecube hasnt shown me impressive games. Xbox has
Nintendo 64 has crap for games. A few great here and there (Zelda) but overall the quality is much lower than the Dreamcast (which is by far the best system out right now)

<< yea Gamecube hasnt shown me impressive games >>

true, but has Nintendo showed any running games yet?

<< Microsoft has a history of destroying the competition and the xbox will be no exception >>

lol, a decent market analysis will illustrate that there is virtually no way Microsoft will rise about 3rd place. cost of production, weakness in the Japanese market, lack of Japanese developer support, installed PS2 userbase, GBA relationship with Gamecube, cheaper cost of Gamecube production, lack of AAA titles (halo and oddworld won't cut it). Microsoft will not "destroy the competition" and will be lucky if their Xbox ever turns a significant profit.

<< elledan-underpowered?
from what i understand the gpu in the xbox is more advanced than nv20😕
>>

Yeah, it's a nice GPU, but if you've any experience with how MS designs hardware... *shivers*
And compared to the GameCube, the XBox is indeed underpowered, since the GC is so much more compact and it has its own special CPU (Gecko) instead of a standard (Intel Celeron/Pentium) CPU.

BTW that picture of those Asian girls carrying an XBox made me nearly choke with laughter 😀 They aren't really enthusiastic about the XBox in Japan etc. because the thing is so large.

It's too early to tell what games will be coming out for the Xbox. I'll probably get it after the first price drop occurs.

I hope the Xbox falls flat on its face. it's big and ugly, but i can't argue about it's impressive hardware. i'm just tired of MS trying to dominate the world.

the only reason i look forward to the coming of the xbox is the drop in price for the PS2 🙂

Considering the hardware they packed into the Xbox, the visuals they've shown off so far are way below par. I think Microsoft phuxor3d this one.

Thank god you 1. don't have a degree in Marketing and 2. don't work in the industry.

The Xbox will most clearly outsell the GC. The GC is not even a concern of either MS nor Sony. Nintendo has been and will continue to be a niche company catering to a younger clientle. If it were not for their crappy-a$$ handheld system, they would have been in dire finacial straits right now.

Now, having said all that. I do not expect Nintendo to fail by any streatch of the imagination. They will continue to be what i have just stated and make a nice profit doing so. Where they really make their money, and will continue so.. is with the Advance (handheld sector) Nintendo wont be in trouble till the day that a company comes along with a serious attempt to try and wrest that area away from them.

... and it can be done. Why even the wonderswan, which was by no means a serious attempt to overthrow the gamboy still in Japan stole 14% of their market.

You haven't taken notice of Big N's changing attitude about their target audience? Nintendo is no longer turning away developers because of mature content; they're making the first move. In time the developers will realize that they can indeed sell mature games on the 'Cube.
