So this PR fluff is valid when it favors RIM, but an evil smear campaign when it doesn't?
Got it...

If you look at the payout rates, the *average* app for Blackberry makes more than the average app for iOS. However, due to sheer scale, iOS devs make more as a whole, and the upper limit is much higher on iOS, which attracts devs to the platform.
This is a reason why WP7 has seen such a strong developer interest so far too. The SDK is fantastic, the developer tools are very good, and the documentation/community is deep.
OK I'm just going to call you out. You talk big and in all honesty you know nothing other than what you Parrot from fan sites. And the thread isn't about apps, ffs, but you love dragging every thread that way because, and there is no question here, iOS leads in total numbers and revenue. That is not the end of the discussion however and the sooner you realise that the better you'll be able to discuss the world of applications on mobile devices.I'm sure your right on that, but like you said iOS has volume and with volume comes money money for the developers.
Probably the reason why WP7 jumped to 25k so quickly with nice looking apps too. Hopefully they'll continue their app growth success.
So you're saying that BB apps are expensive. I think everyone pretty much knows that. When an appstore is expensive that tells me that they're expensive not because the app is any good, its because it doesn't have the volume to generate the revenue necessary. Why else do you think iPhone apps are cheap and are top notch?
At the end of the day, iOS takes the lead in apps when it comes to developer support and the revenue it generates. In all honesty, there's nothing wrong with giving Apple credit for that, they did start the whole mobile app ecosystem revolution.
Yesterdays announcement of iMessage was in my opinion the last nail in the coffin, that may take two years to fully seat in the shallow grave of technology products, of a product that was once hailed as the leader and innovator in the smartphone space. Hell, it was RIM that conviced the analysts to use the term Smartphone to refer to the category for the purpose of reporting numbers. It's sad, as I have genuinely found these devices to be both powerful and fun to use in their own way.
However, there are some epic delays on the new devices, and these may be to much for new users to bear or wait for. I don't expect an epic Palm-like descent into obscurity, I fully expect them to keep a niche in the Coporate arena, but that they will end up chugging the same 20m or so device per qtr while others shoot up to astronomical numbers leaving them behind.
Pre post EDIT:
I wrote a large piece here revealing some insider stuff, but deleted it, as my Wife lives and breathes in this industry and it wouldn't be fair to blow the whistle, as someone would end up attributing it back to her, even if she wasn't the source.
Now I'm sure there are many in this sub forum who cannot wait to bathe in the schadenfreude, and you can have at it. From my perspective the PlayBook may well be the last RIM device I own after I replace my 9520. It's the only exciting product, but the handsets that spawn from it's development are too far out for me to consider waiting for.

Making pithy comments like "bb apps are expensive, lol" is just juvenile, unless you live under a bridge. If you want to talk about giving credit, give app world the credit as the most profitable per app for developers. App Store is profitable for Apple, mores than devs compared to App World. You're just afraid to give credit in case the other RIMtrolls on this forum turn on you, too. Grow some nads, man![]()
So what? You trolling me is nothing new. You've openly stated you want to 'hunt me down and will never stop' and that you PM many other members here calling me a RIMtard. You're an epic sad troll, and you need to realise that nobody takes investment advice or 'secrets' about how fund managers work (but seriously I do lol when you try and act like you know) from a male Nurse.

I stand by that post and if RIM do nothing about the challenge I still believe it to be the case.
Jesus tap dancing christ you must be acting dense for a bet.I don't see how your post changes anything.
1. BB apps are expensive
2. iOS gets more developer support
3. Developers make more money on iOS due to volume
I don't see how anything I've said isn't true. I already acknowledged in a previous post that appworld has the most profit/app yet you deny everything I've said. Somehow my "pithy" comments are "juvenile" just because you don't like to hear them...okaaay.
What does all of that have to do with anything ?
People who wrote apps for Osborne 1 computers got paid more too.

1) BB Apps MAKE MORE MONEY PER SALE than any other platform. That doesn't mean they are all more expensive. Hell all the PlayBook apps I have bought so far have been 99p/cents.
2) Really? How would you know? Pony up some facts, rather than just partisan bull.
3) No. You're just flat out wrong. SOME devs make money due to volume, but those are the exception, not the rule, which is what you seem to think. Imagine, you write an app, but then it's in a sea of 100,000 other apps. What chance of people even knowing your app exists do you have if you cannot afford to have the app featured? How do you even get noticed? But yeah, all the apps are making all iOS devs huge bags of money...lulz.
