who's memory??

Does anyone recoginize who makes this memory stick? The paper tag says LDBTBA2500220, 256MB, PC2100. It is single sided with 8 memory chips. The marking on the chips is LD in a stylized oval, with a part # of LDO2568WT3T08

I purchased a stick of "high performance" DDR PC2100 from Component Authority in California. This is a replacement stick after the original started causing lockups and rebooting. The original memory came with a heat spreader, this stick does not have the heat spreader.

I wonder if it is worth while opening the package (ok memory) or if I should try once again to get a good stick from CA???

Component Authority is extreamly slow, they answer some emails, after several days. They ship product, in 4 to 6 weeks, or 6 to 8 weeks at christmas time.

I don't know who makes that memory, but I suggest next time you do buy memory, buy it from someone reputable. Crucial, Mushkin, Corsair, Samsung...all these can be found in regular online retailers, heck even in the For Sale/For Trade forum here.

Yes you are quite right. I was lulled by the very low prices on pc100 so when I went to buy DDR I was unhappy with the prices. My next idea is to go with Mushkin PC2100 "high performance" memory. I like their website and Mushkin seems to be well thought of.

Since I have the Nvidia MSI420 motherboard I have to keep all the memory exactly the same. $225 for 2 sticks of memory, shipping etc. ouch.

I gathered the same info from their resellerratings. I noticed they operate a couple of websites under different names as well. They look like a shady company, and lure people in with low prices. Stick with newegg, mushkin, memman, or crucial direct.
