i really cant think of anyone, on either side of the aisle, who would make a viable candidate for the white house. hilary is unelectable, frist is a senator (still, maybe?), edwards lost and is probably too young to run on his own, arnold is an immigrant, and jeb would be a dynasty. thoughts? poll suggestions?

None of the above...I hope. I do think Hillary would make a good running mate for the right canidate.

i just dont see a liberal new england woman being elected in any southern/midwest state.

The two frontrunners for Reps have to be McCain and Rudy. Rudy could very well carry New York... an ace in the hole electorally.

I don't know?? Maybe your right, but my Dad is ultra-conservative and he likes her. Stranger things have happened.

man, mccain could win in a landslide if hed try working on not being such a bush dittohead. giuliani annoys me. make a few speeches, have the chance to be mayor of NY during 9/11, and bam! object of national GOP adulation. he hasnt done anything.

Clark is rather anti-war, though. Think more like Colin Powell.

And, as for Warner, well, he just attended the Bilderberg conference so you can pretty much bank on his political future.

BTW, this poll kinda sucks. 😉

You should have two questions...one for each party.

I don't belong to either party... I'm not sure what to vote for 😕

among those listed...

Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist - doubtful. he's been trying his damndest to appeal to conservative christian voters, but I don't think that will be good enough in the early primaries.

Senator Hilary Rodham Clinton - the likely democratic nominee assuming: a) she runs, and b) she's not running against a southern or midwestern governor

Senator John Kerry - I hope the democratic voters are smart enough to not allow him to be a 2-time loser. he managed to lose against one of the most disliked presidents ever. that takes talent.

John Edwards - too inexperienced. he got torn up in the debates against Dick Cheney, and the same thing will happen again during the primary debates.

Governor Jeb Bush - doubtful, especially having already said on multiple occasions that he would absolutely not run. if he changed his mind on that, his republican opponents would likely paint him as a reluctant canidate who got strongarmed into it by his brother in an attempt to create a Dynasty.

John McCain - depends who he's running against.

Rudy Giuliani - waaaay too much baggage. I think he'd make a good VP canidate, though.

Explain please why Hilary is "unelectable".

I think she is not only electable, but is in fact a shoe-in for not only Democratic candidate but also a shoe-in for President. The simple fact is that there is no-one on the republican side of politics to oppose her. No-one. The Republicans have run out of charismatic candidates. Guiliani doesn't have a hope in hell, he's too much of a social liberal to ever secure the endorsement of the all-powerful religious right wing of the Republican party. McCain is an ugly old man, past his prime. Frist - he's as "crazy" (religious, or pandering to the religious) as Bush, but possesses none of Bush's charm and easy manner with people. 🙂

Based on the above, the only outcome possible is Hilary as first female President of the USA.

You Hilary-haters are going to have to come to terms pretty soon. 😛

Who's got a shot at the Presidency? Hmm, Maybe John Wilkes Booth or Lee Harvey Oswald?

You need to add a second colum that mirrors the first poll listing the same people again, except this poll is for who do you think the running mate will be.

Id like to see Joe Biden run

Nope, it was discovered during is 1988 run that he plagiarized some papers years ago and since has expressed no interest in running again. He's out.

McCain would have won in 2000 if he didn't resign after NH primaries. I am sure Bush asked him nicely.

McCain would be a very good candidate. I wish he had run in 2000, would have been really happy to have him as pres.

I think people underestimate Hillary. Remember, it is the middle vote that decides the presidency, not the left/right vote. In Kerry vs Bush, the Left/Right voted just about the same as they always do. Bush won over more of middle America, hence he won.

Hillary has HUGE middle America appeal (and before I get flamed, hear me out). Much like Clinton, the reason she is appealing to middle America is the fact that she made it to Senator on her own. Meaning, she like Bill started her career on the bottom level. They worked for what they earned. Kerry and Bush did not. Kerry has the Heinz fortune, and Bush jr. is basically in a Political family, just like the Kennedys.

This is the same reason that Barak Obama killed the Illinois candidate by such a huge margin (no one expected him to win by THAT much).

I trust someone more who made it in life through hard work, not having anything handed to them. Unofrtunetly most candidates today come from wealthy families with connections that frankly does not represent the middle class. It is the middle class that is the driver of ANY country. Without the middle class, you have no country.

I would have much rather seen a stuffy old bastage like mccain then bush, ugh.
At least mccain is statesmanlike, and I would hope he would not have lead us into the crapper like you know who.
Not being partisan here, I would not have voted for him, but he would have made at least a tolerable choice for prez.
Bush is a spoiled dumbass who pretty much got this sh1t handed to him on a silver platter like everything else in his life.
It's pretty dumb when conservatives whine about rabid hate and all, I do not hate conservatives I just hate the idiotic choice
they made when they they let everyone get duped by this carpetbagger with his fake texas accent and bs "jesus forgave me" crap like some sleazy televangilist.
at least go to rehab for pete's sake, nothing worse then a panic-y dry drunk. (see 2004 debates for example)

Now like that sleazy televangelist we're going to all have to look like idiots when he finally screws up and starts apologizing and once again just like nixon watch the conservatives drop him down the memory hole like a texas sized lead weight taking USA's reputation with it becasue some people cannot pull their heads from their TV sets far enough to quit the apathy to think for themselves for a instant.

People in here sound like parents of a out of control alcoholic child apologizing and enabling his idiotic behavior. again and again, and pretty much that is what it is.

He never admits anything nor has to.
Sooner or later someone is going to have to make him face the music for what he has done, no more apologizing and making excuses playing the enabler for his mistakes.

GOP is posturing to pair up a Frist / Bush (Jeb) ticket to appeal to their Right Wing base.
They have become totally dependent on the vote of the extreme right to carry them, and know that without it they have no chance.
Frist is busy pandering now to set the stage for that, & Jeb already has shown that he will perform to their expectations.
Jeb cannot run for Goobber in Florida again - term limits, you know . .
but he's got to say in the political ring or his future is questionable for a return.

Historically more Governors become Presidents than Generals and Senators combined.
Anyone recall a House of Reprehensibles ever becoming president ? I don't.

I don't see Hillary moving into contention . . . yet, to much partisan dislike for a strong woman presence.
Might see a re-run of Kerry / Edwards, but nobody else is that appealing now at this time.
Obama's time is not in the forseable future, even more doubtful than Hillary -
with the racism standards of the country's mediocre middle & South.

Hmmmm, dmcowen674 might not be a bad choice . . . with Steeplerot as the Veep !

Other side of the ticket puts up CaD & Riproin.

Couldn't someone just run a toad & a salamander ?
