I will wait for Steamroller. I have a 1055t now and still see no reason to upgrade yet.

If i had any AM3+ systems currently i might consider it for the girlfriends comp, but since i dont my next 2 boxes to be upgraded next year will probably both go to intels haswell chips if they are out by summer.

I need to upgrade my girlfriends comp and HTPC over the next year.

Would never consider it for HTPC box to high power consumption.

Am interested in how well they will OC though.

Considering that Bulldozer support for my board (ASUS M4A89GTD PRO/USB3) is still in beta, I suspect there won't be support for anything newer. So, no.

Not me. Just got an i5, and don't regret it. Better in gaming and uses less power.
Vishera is improved, but still only makes sense for very limited scenarios.

one question, do all the AM3+ boards have some support for Vishera, I mean, can you start the system to update the bios, or you need an older CPU to do that?

with ivy bridge, old boards need a bios update before, so you need a sandy bridge CPU to do that...

that's a problem, most AM3+ motherboards on sale right now wouldn't support the CPU, without using a different CPU for updating the bios, if that's the case...

(if yo can't even start the MB with Vishera and the old bios)

most will probably ship with new BIOs as before but if not you can find a semperon cpu for like $5-$10 to update

Not sure about "most", but Asus didn't. Their AM3+ boards did NOT support Zamberzi with the shipped BIOS. The Crosshair could be updated without a CPU, but the Sabertooth needed a temporary AM3 CPU for that. I got this confirmed by 3rd level Asus support on their forum.

This is why its always better to buy new chipset with new CPU.

Not new CPU for old chipset.

It's negligibly better IPC, only faster because it clocks higher at 4ghz instead of 3.6. Clock for clock it's like 4% faster. :/ I don't see the point really.

Exactly. Or make sure you've updated the BIOS before putting the new CPU in your existing old board.

PS - I'll be replacing my 960t with the 8350.

no, but I'm not convinced. There were significant gains to be had simply from fixing the abysmal turbo mode behavior on Bulldozer. It's hard to know how much of the gains are from that. For example, the 8150 vs 8350 single threaded performance at Cinebench r11.5

Also, some of those statistics don't match up with Anand's results.

I'm considering it since I have bulldozer in my system already. Right now I sorta want to build a new Intel rig though :p Maybe next year when all the cpu's are replaced and I can grab one for pretty cheap. These look fun to play with.

I am getting a few FX-6300s and FX-8320s to upgrade the existing machines.

If starting new, this CPU paired with a 970 board, it is a very solid setup. Add an SSD for boot drive, and a better video card that you could if going i5, and you have a clearly better system than the similarly priced blue setup ;)

Anyways, which to get, the 8320 (~$180 @ Newegg), or 8350 (~$220 @ Newegg)?

Are the 8350 chips binned better, and more likely to reach 5Ghz on air?

That's what I would like, to join the 5Ghz club, something that most SB/IB CPUs cannot. :)

And who says that Anand's results are right?

His AMD results have been consistently, for year now, lower than the other sites. Furthermore, doing a run on your own you will find you are scoring higher than him. But if you want a better known reviewer than what was linked, read TR's review or Tom's.
