I woke up this morning to a blanket of snow outside and it is still snowing. There doesn't seem to be much wind so the snow is gently falling.

It is -1C here but it is supposed to hit 2C.

anyone else getting snow?

Was talks of possible snow up this way but just a little light rain today. New tires on the Scooby though so I say bring it on.

Central CA here and it's been a strange year. Haven't received a drop of rain yet this fall and there is none in the forecast. We usually have a couple inches by now. 75 F for the next week as well. Luckily we got so much water last winter we aren't in drought conditions yet. Maybe winter will just get skipped this year.

Southern NH, so far it looks like we'll get lite rain to a coating of snow. Gonna be damn cold after the storm. Hey, thanks for this thread, I just realized I need to by ice melt!

Not too surprising since I'm not too far from you but we got snow. Fortunately I'm working from home this week so I just got to laugh at my coworkers and friends who were complaining about the idiot drivers

We might get some tonight as the temps drop but I doubt it sticks to the ground. Our next chance for snow is Tues.

Oh man, the number of idiots on the roads seems to increase every year. I thought it was bad 20 years ago driving down to Mass, now I don't even want to drive on the highway in NH.

We've had a bit of snow on the ground for roughly a week or so now and it's been snowing on and off since, but nothing crazy. I'm almost at a point where I should consider shoveling my driveway, but not quite. We have maybe like 2-3cm if that. Can still see the grass in some spots.

Pics from about a week ago.

Raining now but we might get some tomorrow. Probably not much more than a dusting.

We had out first bit of snow last week, mostly melted off the next day. Supposed to get some tonight/tomorrow.
Tonight - Chance of precipitation is 100%. Total nighttime snow accumulation of 3 to 5 inches possible.
Friday - Chance of precipitation is 100%. New snow accumulation of 2 to 4 inches possible.
For reference - 4 inch = 10.16 centimeter(i'm horrible at metric conversions)

@Iron Woode, you're in London, correct? Not too far from me in the grand scheme of things, as the crow flies.

Yes, I am in London. I believe Erie is directly south of us.

I lived in NorCal for 25 years. Drought seems to be the new normal, swinging the other way to where Oroville Dam washes over the spillway and Lake Shasta gets so full they have to release copious amounts down river.

Thankfully, no snow here on the Washington coast. We got around 4" of snow in one storm this past winter...but the city we moved from just a couple of months before...ended up getting hammered with about 36" of snow over a couple of weeks. <phew...that was close!>

update from Environment Canada:

6:42 PM EST Thursday 07 November 2019
Snow squall warning in effect for:

  • London - Parkhill - Eastern Middlesex County
  • Strathroy - Komoka - Western Middlesex County

Intense snow squalls expected this evening through Friday.

Snow squalls are forecast to develop off southern Lake Huron this evening and then intensify tonight, producing local amounts up to 25 cm by Friday morning. Visibilities will be significantly reduced at times due to heavy snow. Occasional lightning and thunder may accompany these snow squalls.

Additional snowfall accumulations in the 10 to 15 cm range are expected during the day Friday bringing total snowfall accumulations to 30 to 40 cm locally.

The snow squalls are forecast to weaken by Friday evening.

Snow squalls cause weather conditions to vary considerably; changes from clear skies to heavy snow within just a few kilometres are common. Prepare for quickly changing and deteriorating travel conditions.

Please continue to monitor alerts and forecasts issued by Environment Canada. To report severe weather, send an email to ONstorm@canada.ca or tweet reports using #ONStorm.

The squall started around 8:00PM tonight. We already have over 2 inches. It looks like a blizzard out here.

For those that don't know what a snowsquall is: it is a type of lake-effect snow that is very narrowly focused and extremely intense like a blizzard. If it locks in, we could get loads of snow. That happened back in 2010 when we received over a meter of snow in 3 days.

Most posters living near the Great Lakes know what lake-effect snow is all about.

My dad was from a small farm town in NW PA. Winters there could be hella brutal.

and another snow storm is moving through again. We are looking at 10 - 20 cm today.

Seems like we are getting more snow than red squirrel is.

:D
