Can you read...I wasn't following him to close...

Now I am following about 1 car length away, and going about 20 miles an hour.

One car length is a little on the close side (if you ask me).

Listen to bradruth, since it's his opinion that would've mattered.. ;)

I'm bored...

1 car length = (2 seconds)(20 miles/hour)(1 hour/3600 seconds)(5280 feet/mile)
1 car length = 58.7 feet :)

If you are going to tell me that every time a car infront of you slowed down and did the same thing as I stated above that you slowed down right with that car and waited for them to turn into their driveways on the right side or pull up on the curb on the right side your full of sh!t.

Once you get more miles under your belt, you will too!

I still don't understand why people make such wide turns, but they do. Most people can't be bothered to use a turn signal either. Good luck proving he didn't use one. Drive defensively, or become a statistic.

Wow. So not signalling is illegal. I thought people who didn't signal were just jerks, but now I know they're actually criminals

Good. But I don't see unsignaling jerks get pull over much... Make that never.

How often do you actually see the process of someone getting pulled over, and when you do how often can you tell what they're being pulled over for?

Try driving out in Boston for a week. Having someone do that to you will be the least of things you need to worry about.

20 mph? were you in a neighborhood? He pulled into a driveway? Be more patient in a residential area.

If you had not been so close to him or rushed to pass him, would the situation had occurred? No.

People will drive for miles upon miles with their turn signal on and then fail to use it when they do something as simple as changing lanes on a light to no traffic interstate. NEVER trust a turn signal, or lack theroff. Until you see a person come to a complete halt, don't assume anything. That's the lesson you gotta learn from this, but be lucky you didn't learn it the hard way.

I know some people are probably thinking I'm nuts for being overly cautious, but waiting a whole 5 to 10 seconds more to be certain of what someone else is doing is much better than risking an accident. If you being at your destination is so important you can't spare 5 or 10 seconds, perhaps you should request a police escort, call an ambulance, or learn to leave earlier.

I see people feint to the left when making right turns, and I see them feint to the right when making left turns. Happens all the time. The _only_ way you _might_ have a leg to stand on would have been if he'd had his right signal on and then turned left. Outside of that, it's pretty clearly a case of your negligence.

Come on are you serious...the speed limit is 25 in my nieghborhood...and it isn't like I drive with a 40 in one hand and my glock in the other...

Not that anyone cares but I am a defensive driver and I haven't had an accident in over 12 years....knock on wood.

I wasn't impatient with this guy....I wasn't in a rush to get home or anything didn't even hit the gas by him...there are tons of kids in by my house and I always drive carefully.

my side of this story is that I feel the guy wasn't paying attention as well as I should have been paying more attention [\b] it just pissed me off that someone goes all over the road to make a turn and they didn't use a signal at all.

I would have been at fault I get that and will admit it if it will make bradruth happy :)

I agree..fault would've been on both sides.

I've watched someone make a left-hand turn into a vehicle travelling in the opposing lane..right in front of me. Quite the surprise..
