Kennywood is the greatest amusement park in the country. The fact that most people I've met have never heard of it is a good thing. It keeps the park local, it sort of belongs to the community. Yearly trips to the park is a family tradition for most people in the area. And I mean family tradition across generations. It's a rare thing to have an entertainment venue which manages to stay modern and keep its visitor numbers high, while keeping its historic heritage and not resorting to commercialism or widespread changes every 10 years. The park has a wholesome, authentic feel, and I think too much visitation from outside the area would spoil this atmosphere somewhat.
Then you haven't experienced Phantom's Revenge, or the Exterminator. Two absolutely fantastic rides.Originally posted by: EvilYoda
I went a long time ago, my cousin lives in Pittsburgh. I think it was pretty decent, but I don't remember much.

However, many visitors DO come from far away, just for the legendary coasters, like the Thunerbolt. They may not be the best, fastest, tallest, etc., but they're all very old and great classics, and their designs are unbeatable when compared to the cookie-cutter coasters we get at parks today like Six Flags.
They actually got a decent steel roller coaster 2 years ago. They might become a coaster park, but they'll have to acquire more land to do so. They're sort of packed in a tight area as it is...Originally posted by: NuclearNed

Dollywood is not a great park, but they are heading in the right direction. For example, just this year they opened a new wooden roller coaster. I have heard rumors that they want to become a roller coaster park like Cedar Point or Kings Island.

Dollywood used to have different names too!
