I create new characters all the time, and I actually hate that I do it. I'll play some with my first character, figure out his flaws, and then try and create a better character based on what I already know about the game. Its a miracle if I actually finish any of these games.

This is my problem as well. I'm really bad when it comes to MMOs because I usually get class envy and then become eternally trapped in the starter areas.

I still haven't learned after all these years.

but i do spend a ridiculous amount on time on character creation .. my first game session on nay RPG is probably all wasted on it.

once i start however i stick with it.

When I played MMOs I didn't suffer from this problem as much. I usually stuck with a character mainly due to the time sink involved. DAO, bg, nwn, and those types of games though I find hard to finish due to my new character problem.

I used to get this back when I played Evercrap. Then I realized that they work so hard to water down your classes and make them so flat and comparable that it really doesn't matter what class you choose. They call it balancing. I call it genericizing.

quite the opposite for me. I am obsessed with keeping my characters. When replaying I always end up making more or less the same as the first time around.

The problem for me actually occurs when i read up about the game after i create a char. For ex. if i create amge, i'd accidentally read somewhere that a warrior can wear a particular type of armour which looks epic. So 'i'd restart and create a warrior. Then i'd read up that choosing someone with high intellect gives you more conversation options and social skills. Restart again. I can't tell you how many chars i've created in DAO before i finally stuck to my warrior.

I'm the same way. Only I tend to find the cool abilities/skills other classes have, and then I want to make that class. I am actually looking for a new RPG game to play that has a cool class. I was leaning toward something mobile, either android, ipad or (3)DS that has more then just a warrior, rogue and mage to choose from. Any suggestions?

I dont know about addicted but it was probably the most fun I had in Neverwinter Nights 1 and 2, especially with expansions and all the extra classes.
The main game seems boring by comparison. (Sorry, I been hating everything post BG2).

Yeah, the stories were week except for nwn1 expansions. NWN2 story did get pretty epic once you play in a good ways though.

I generally go for the recommended setting and choose hot female. The only time I didn't do that was morrowind but that was my first rpg. I needed help and got the character I picked from PC gamer.

My biggest flaw is always trying to make my characters a "Jack of all trades". If I have a cleric I'll try to work in some melee abilities to make them a battle cleric. If I have a warrior I'll spec some casting or healing skills to make him a self-sufficient fighter/healer.

I'm always trying to turn my toons into something they're not supposed to be and have the best of both worlds.

Yea, I'm guilty of this. I start playing then I think of some way I could make my character better so I remake. Keep repeating that until I'm so bored of the first area that I never finish the game...
