I agree, and an old car doesn't always mean poor or slobby, but when looking at possible rentals, we always take the newest car we own and make sure it is clean. It is an unavoidable part of your presentation, just like the clothes you are wearing and whether or not YOU are clean and well-kept.

A good background check will usually give you enough information to sort out the chaff from the wheat.
