It took 8 books, 10 weeks of class, 7 exams, god knows how many hours of study, about 20 lbs of paper to print assorted brain dumps and whatnot but it all ended today at 10:15

MCSE at last...

Next week I start on my CCNA. Only 5 weeks, 2 books, etc. etc. etc.

After that... finish up my AS (network engineering)

Who would have believed it... Last week I couldn't even spell MCSE... Now I are one!

Congrats....now get some experience so you can hopefully apply what you have learned and not just be a paper MCSE.

You were already worth more then most of those who took the test. It is nice to know there's at least one out there that knows what they're doing.

I was wondering how you passed 7 exams by only taking 7 tests and never had experience.

If that cramming involves having the questions and answers to the exam of course.

isn't braindumps just a generic word for any of those tests that are available? some are legit and some are not. correct? the transcenders are legit right? couldn't they be referred to as braindumps?

Well transcenders are legit yeah but in most cases they don't use the same questions as the exams.

For many MCP exams lets say the exam is 70 questions - each exam randomly draws the 70 questions from a pool of around 200, so these brain dumps have all 200 questions followed by answers.

This is obviously cheating and underhanded. However, I have used brain dumps in the past - on my SQL 7.0 exam, which is pretty darn hard, the pass was a 68% or something and I got a 65%. I went home that night and studied more but since each exam costs $100 US and if you fail twice you have to wait two weeks (I didn't have time to wait) I simply couldn't afford to fail gain so I then sucked up brain dumps that night and got in the high 80's in a fraction of the exam time. Anybody off the street could pass many of these MCP exams by comitting the dumps to memory one night. If you don't know the material though you're wasting time; even if you get a job your incompetence will shine quickly.

If Joanne's dog was blue, and her cat was red, she went out to dinner the night before at an itallian restraunt. SHe has a husband working in a remote office office in California, her barber's in arizona, and her corporate office is in Florida. Her remote office and Coporate office has a range of IP's 10.0.0.20-10.0.0.92, what is the proper subnet mask for this range?

CCNA
You need the subnet mask of the ip range 10.0.0.20-10.0.0.92. What is it?

I hope you're right about the CCNA.

Yea 216 was a B!TCH... I read ALL of the MOC and we had a textbook for the class that we had to read.

Is using braindumps cheating??? I don't think so. I just looked at them as another study tool. The cert means nothing if you don't have at least SOME understanding of the material.

The use of braindumps was sanctioned by the teachers. Not so much to memorize the questions and answers but to condition us to the Micro$oft way of thinking. A VERY common comment in class was "Do you want to be right or do you want to be certified?" What we ended up learning was a number of methods to do most everything. The method that may be the best or the fastest or easiest isn't at all the way M$ want's you to do it according to the exams. Like they kept telling us... Do you want to be right or...

Committing braindumps to memory.... Somebody please tell me how to do that. I'm 44 and considering the "chemical consumption" of my youth I'm doing good to remember my name much less commit 200+ (X7 exams) questions to memory.

Considering the fact that my current employment is coming to an end like ANY DAY this couldn't have timed out any better...

THANX to all for the congrats and support. Onward and upward...

Well Basically you read through the question and guess the answer you'd give it and you can at least narrow it down to 1-2 answers, then you find out whatever they say. Do that a few times and you'll nail most of the answers. Of course you can't memorize the actual question but when you see the question next time and the answers you'll recall what the right one was...

nitemare,

There is a XP cert. It's a seperate certification from W2K but uses the same core tests EXCEPT... you take 70-270 instead of 20-210. I'm told that your card will say something like "MCSE - Windows 2000" vs "MCSE - Windows XP". The bottom line is that 6 out of 7 tests are the same as the 2000 track. Head over to the Micro$oft site and drill down to the cert requirements. The info's all there.

phatcow,

NO FREAKIN JOKE... Some of the questions that took scrolling up and down the screen to read (not the mention the exhibit) could have bben asked in 2 or 3 lines. I mean... Who writes this stuff??? and what planet are they from???

I think that was the point of the braindumps. We spent a lot of time learning how to condense all of the Micro$oft BS down to an understandable question.

You have no idea how glad I am to hear that. I get so sick of these kids walking in here with their MCSE and expecting you to grovel at their feet and give them a job. Of course they usually come to their senses after you start hitting them with real life practical questions and they get that deer in headlights look.

I don't know about anyone else but for me getting the MCSE was all about validation of the skills that I already have.

I don't think I would have paid for the course just to get the paper. As it turned out I was offered the training at no cost by way of a state grant. I was offered A+, MCSE and CCNA training. I already had my A+ so I didn't take that one. The grant picks up the cost of classes, books and tests. Near as I can figure it works out to about $8000.00 worth of education.

We (the members of the class) found out last week that if we want it we will be given college credit for the classes. Well... That adds 24 credit hours toward my AS, again at no cost. Worth an additional $1200 or so. What's not to want...

Like I said earlier... In that I'm about to be unemployed it couldn't have come at a better time.
