I got it used a few months ago, and the fans would blow like crazy every time I'd turn it on. And unless I leave it on a cool location that doesn't coduct heat well (or is it conducts well), it'd turn itself off in about 1-2 hours.

I initially had tried opening it and applying thermal paste to the CPU/heatsink, but could never figure out how to..until one day I said f* this and went all out on it. Turned out I had to remove my keyboard in order to open up the full laptopl.

I then had to unscrew the heatsink/fan combo, liberally smudge some paste on the CPU and heatsink..and voila, my laptop is as quiet as a whistle now.

Nice, I was in a similar predicament just recently. I had been using my stock fans that came with the case I bought (Some X-Infinity brand?) since the build of my computer (~2 years). These POS were annoyingly loud, all the time. My computer could have literally been frozen, and these fans would still be slowly blowing my eardrums out.

I finally decided to switch them out, bought some "Stealth" brand 80mm fans and the difference was remarkable. I can't believe I waited so damn long to get rid of them. It's one mistake I will never make again, to say the least.
