wholockme - application to see what programs are locking a file.

I get annoyed when I want to delete a file and it is locked. The program above is supposed to tell me what is locking it.

I remember using it years ago, but I can't remember if it worked or not. And it looks like it hasn't been updated for some time, so I don't want to install it and mess up my system.

Do any of you guys use this or something similar? What do you recommend? Thanks!
 
I've never gotten WhoLockMe to work

I have had some success with ProcessExplorer, it's from sysinternals or winternals or something

Bingo, I also use process explorer and it's just one of their great tools. Search for the file you can't delete, remove the file handle and then as if my magic, you can get rid of that pesky file. 🙂
 
One of the above posters said he can't get Wholockme to work for him.
I agree, it usually wiill work fine. However, I do use Unlocker and it
works very well with XP SP1 or SP2
