When you pop popcorn you cannot have a rotating tray in the microwave or it does not pop. The popcorn has to be still to be popped.
Umm, what makes you say that? I've had a rotating tray for years and have popped many a bag o' popcorn.

good idea:) guess its time to nuke water in the backyard.

i put it out there, it stinks too much right now.
Take the microwave back to the store and tell them "Dude, you guys sold me a stinky used microwave!" ;)

I know somebody that bought one of those pocket sandwich makers for his mom and it turned out to be all gunky and obviously used. It wasn't even the same model as on the box! :Q

Okay, I'm just kidding about taking the microwave back...

Hahaha.... my sister did the exact same thing! The pop corn was that wrapped thing instead of a container. She put it to full power for 2 minutes, and didn?t use the popcorn button right there in the keypad. The kernels were on fire and were burning inside the microwave. It totally ruined the white interior of the MW, but no damage was done, other then the freaken awful smell inside the house. I did the exact same thing you did and vented everything.

Sometimes if you put the bag on a plate it helps it to pop more. Even w/ a turn table.

In college, the physics department designated a room as a sort of lounge for undergraduate physics students. We had a couch, microwave, tables, etc...nice room. One afternoon we were bored and decided to start microwaving things. Marshmallow peeps, twinkies and...raisins. OMG. Raisins microwaved for 5 minutes produced one of the most evil aromas I've ever had the displeasure of smelling. The building was split in half such that physics was on one side and chemistry was on the other. Our room was next to an organic chemistry lab (a course known for producing smelly things). I recall organic students walking by our door and mentioning how bad that part of the hall smelled.

Try it sometime. :D
