Main point is to keep in contact with people and connect with others.

Hence the name; the site was originally for keeping connected with fellow classmates and people from other colleges.

Showing off is possible, of course, but I don't think it's necessary.

Do you have real connections with these schools?

If not then your friend might have a point.

BTW if you are a teenage girl you use facebook to tell each other how 'pretty' they are.

Every time my niece or her friends post a pic a bunch of her other friends reply with 'you are so pretty'

And we wonder why girls have self esteem issues.

just wondering.

actually I'm curious because I have three universities (somewhat prestigious univs) listed as my networks and I recently heard my friend saying that it looks like I'm showing off.

So... what exactly is your relationship to these universities?

If nothing... then anyone who knows you will know you're either:
(1) A brown-nosing little shit who like to look like he's better than he is
(2) A lying little shit who thinks he's better than anyone else, when in fact, he's nothing more than a puke.

I went to all three universities (B.S., Post-Bac, M.S). No degree or anything from the post-bac program though.
The undergraduate school has a reputation as a bit of a party school so when I was looking for jobs, I realized how poor the campus recruiting is. I enrolled in post-bac and eventually finished my M.S. at different universities to advance my network and open doors.

I think it would be sorta lame to have "networks" with universities you did not attend.

I suppose an exception could be made if there is a particular NCAA sports team you enjoy - I think many people go to smaller universities that do not have significant sports programs and as such may latch onto the nearby "big" school as a sports fan. Maybe if you have a spouse that went to one of those universities and you had them in your network could be seen as reasonable as well.

Outside of those scenarios, I would tend to think it weak to least universities in your network which really are not.

I don't think it's even possible to list universities in your network without a valid school email address... so I physically attended all three universities if that's what you're asking.
Two of them, degree granting

I don't know why anyone would have a problem with you listing schools you actually attended.

This. If someone thinks you are showing off because you list places you went to school then that's their issue, not yours.

I agree with you but I guess my friend is saying that why not just list one instead of having three different universities in my network

...because you went to all three

I was part of two my high school, and then my college. Earlier this year I dropped the high school since random high schoolers would keep adding me :\

meh list them all... like others said facebook's about staying connected. when you're hunting out old buddies from ugrad or whichever school, it'll be handy if those people can tell how or where they might know you. stuff like that.

you dont need to have winners guilt over working hard to get a masters.

I went to all three universities (B.S., Post-Bac, M.S).

This is a bit off topic but I was wondering what a Post-Bachelor's degree is. I thought the Master's was the Post-Bachelor's. Is there an intermediary I'm not aware of?
