Whole Foods has a peanut-butter making machine

I never noticed it before, but they have machines (look like large grinders) where you can make peanut butter from scratch. You can do almond and a few other butters as well.

I picked up an iced green tea, a little bit of freshly-roasted (yesterday) Ethiopian Yirgacheffe (I'm out of my green coffee), and a blue-label Chimay in one stop!

I  Whole Foods.

I should go there more often...then again, I like having money.

lol. I'd be buying these things even if I didn't go to Whole Foods, so it's nice to have it all under one roof.

Oh, and I bought gooseberry and currants as well. I don't think I could get that at Koger.

please don't tell me you are going to start making your own peanut butter

Fresh peanut butter is fantastic. I just like that they offer everyone the option of trying it. I'll probably try the fresh almond butter next time I'm there.

It's cool, most health food stores have it. Never tried it because it's expensive as a mofo. Peanute butter is one of the greatest foods ever invented though. I wonder if any KKK members eat peanut butter?

Food processor + peanuts = homemade peanut butter. 🙂

Have you been living under a rock? 😛

Most grocery stores have one. And it makes WAY better peanutbutter than anything you can find in a jar.

I've always wanted to pick one of the machines for use at home. It would be badass to make cashew, hazlenut, pecan, sesame, sunflower, pistachio, walnut.....

Mmmmm... nut butters....

Guess so! What grocery stores are you seeing them in? I don't believe I've seen them in Albertson's or Kroger at least. Maybe I just wasn't paying attention.

MaraNatha makes my favorite peanut butters.

Go for it! It's not that difficult to make some of the simpler food items like: mustards, mayos, nut butters, jellies, etc. and the quality you get is profoundly better. You also have a lot more opportunity to try new things. I sometimes make an apricot and ginger mustard that's fantastic, for example. I also have a Thai red curry that I thicken with yogurt and add cilantro. Might sound a little odd, but the yogurt and cilantro is a great addition.

How long would it take you to break even on peanut butter after buying a machine? I'd just get it from the store if I were you, it's not like it "runs out of freshness" anytime soon.

You don't have to buy a machine if you already have a suitable means to grind them. I've used a burr grinder that I used to use for coffee with some success.

Lame. I have been to most supermarkets, large and small including but not limited to Vons, Albertsons, Ralphs, Hughes, Walmart, Pavillions, Lazy Acres, Trader Joes, Gelsons, Whole Foods ... and NONE of them have peanut butter making machines. Check your facts.
