Whole apartment infested with thousands of fruit flies

Arm & Hammer Clump & Seal. I think they're really going for the fecal waste, which is there all day until I come home at night.

ah, my cats always wait for me to come home from work for that joy.

I walk in the door, they greet me, I scratch them on the head, and then 30 seconds later the litter box is full of poop.

Need some help. Let my nephew stay for 5 days while I went up north. Came home to popcans/food containers/slurpee cups and half empty beer bottles. The best was the container half full of 5 day old sushi in the back room.

Any tips or tricks? One just flew into my mouth as I typed this.

Whole House Bug Bomb, put all your food away, wash your dishes, clean all your garbage out of the apartment, wash the container, wash your dirty clothes, open all your interior doors and cabinet doors, drawers too. Package contains four or five bombs, open one in each room, leave for six to eight hours, repeat in a week as the laid eggs will hatch.

Just a few fruit flies imported into your home on a banana is all it takes for a complete infestation, even in a very clean home. In just a short week's time, you get to experience the whole lifecycle of these little bastards.

To kill hundreds of fruit flies, the organic method: you will need several containers filled with sugar vinegar and water with a drop of liquid detergent. Expect it to take several weeks to kill them all, I speak from experience.

One of these might solve may problems 🙂

Obligatory.

For a couple of fruit flies a cup of apple cider vinegar with a slice of fruit and a drop of soap will handle it.

We get them every summer (damn kids and fruit).

i have tried what you suggested. it works but not great. one night i left about a inch of beer in a glass (bells oberon) and in the morning i had maybe 14 in it.

So now i pour a little in a jar put some rynolds wrap around the top. then poke small holes in it. i leave that in the kitchen and it does a great job.

Go to a home depot or lowes, or walgreens or cvs, get some fly tape. Hang it up in places that seem to have the most flies like the sink or trashcan.

Obviously get the trash out.

If you have any fruit around, wash it off and put it in your refrigerator.

And tell your nephew he's an inconsiderate asshole.

I heard that an open can of four loco or some other shitty alcoholic drink can annihilate and entire population of fruit flies. Or some shit like that.

One option is to put something they like at the bottom of a bag, and when they all go to that, seal it and take it outside.

Whatever product or DIY chemical you go with, spray some on the furnace filter and run the blower. They'll get sucked in through the returns, and any that try to hide in the vents wont be able to due to the air (which will be semi toxic to them).

In fact if you can get away with leaving the place for a day or so I would just go crazy with tons of chemicals in the air while the blower is running. Basically chemical bomb the whole place. Then open tons of windows and use fans to air it out.

I think pic's work for those too. Those green spiral thingis you light on fire to kill mosquitoes. You could light a whole bunch of those around the house with all the windows shut.

Oh, out of curiosity, try this:

Long strips of duct tape, with sugar sprinkled along the middle (don't cover the whole tape maybe just a small section of the middle as you don't want to undo the stickyness).

In theory I think that would work, but I never tried it or heard of it being tried.

I've had this happen to me before after leaving a banana in my garbage.

My entire room was full of these things so I just left my window open and let them all fly out eventually.
