Cliffs:
Bought a new big screen tv when I got my settlement and bought the house a year ago.
Bought in Oct and delivered in feb of this year.
3 months of watching and the green tube goes out
Warranty work nothing out of my pocket.
2 months pass and called to see what the hold up was and was told waiting for 1 part of 3 not till mid august
Mid August here and called and told not till late sept early oct making it 6 months without the tv.
Was pissed, not at repair place, with Toshiba parts department so I called Toshiba to throw a fit.
Got one of the nicest reps on the phone and said he would handle it and not to worry something will happen.
Just got off the phone with Toshiba. They no longer make my tv or parts (go figure its only a 2 year model and everyones going with damn lightbulbs).
Said how would I like a new tv to almost what I have now. I about took a crap in my pants.
I am to be contacted within 3-5 days on what tv to choose.
I looked at Toshiba.com and my tv is a 65" and the only ones they have close to that size is 62 and 72 and both are over $3K.
I will crap my pants if they send me one of thoes two. Not happy about changing bulbs but DAMN Toshiba went well above the call especially since the tv is a refurb from overstock and anything they send me would be nice and never would of thought of getting :D

That is all :D:D:D:D:D

It was a sweet 65" 65H84 to be exact. The damn tubes were supposed to last 50,000-80,000 life hours but they didnt. I was not expecting for Toshiba to do what they are doing. I was jsut hoping to put a fire under a butt or two to get me my part and not have to wait 6 months or longer. Was not expecting then to tell me I have waited long enough and were going to give you a new tv. Never heard of that ever happening and if it trully pans out that way they got me as a customer for other things down the road when I can afford them again.

Toshiba sucks balls.... Ive had nothing but bad experiences with my Toshiba laptop. The motherboard has been replaced twice, once at their cost when it was 4 monthes old, and once at my cost at 14 monthes, 2 monthes out of warantee and they refused to help me out at all. About two weeks after the second motherboard went and the third was installed the HDD died, the Toshiba service depot wanted near $500 just to replace the damn HDD, and when I asked what retail was on a HDD and they said $200 I said perfect Ill just take that and do it myself.. they told me thats not how they worked... I sorted that out by just going into the depot and taking my laptop back, then they werent happy because they had already ordered received the HDD... so I bought it off them for retail and put it in myself. One month after that the LCD screen dies, first of all they misdiagnose it as another motherboard, 3 weeks later, opps, it was the screen after all (I told them I thought it was the screen since it worked fine with an external monitor... they assured me it was the mobo) So I got the screen replaced at a cost of $1100. I called Toshiba and asked if they could do anything for me, the guy got upset and started yelling at me, told me its not their problem and Toshiba would do nothing to help. They wouldnt help out on repairs or anything, at very least I was expecting maybe a $100 credit towards a new Toshiba, but no. Ill never buy another Toshiba again.

BTW, those are CAD prices

*edit* also, the laptop is used for 99% word applications and internet browsing. It isnt carried around either, it sits on my desk 100% of the time.

We bought what was a nice 32" Toshiba CRT in 1990. Just died last year, and we were extremely abusive.... we're talking spilled water, drops, dust, all kinds of crap. They have my thumbs up for building something that reliable.

Hope they follow through with their promise.

Good luck.

why'd you spend more to fix the laptop if you could have spent that money on a different laptop?

laptops are closing in on the the being the next throw away printer. it's pretty much cheaper to buy a new printer than it is to get serviced and sometimes to replace the ink with official carts.

Paid much more for the laptop than the repairs, at the time I bought I went top of the line everything, and they actually warned me that the screen would be over 1k to replace its a 1600x1200 ultra sharp or whatever the designation was. Anyway the laptop was near 4000 new. I was able to get it for 3500 through a company
