Whoa. There's another chinese dude in the NBA.

this guy is considered the least skilled of the 3 player that forms china's front line, at 290 pounds hes a banger with a good mid range shot.
the 7-5 guy is yao ming, he is suppose to be going to the draft this year, speculation say him and jason william will probably be either the first or second pick.

hadn't heard about this yet.
Last I heard, the chinese government was preventing their basketball players from joining the NBA. Must have changed their policy sometime

<< 7'5"! I hope he's much more stalwart and moveable than Manute Bol. >>

Hey don't knock Manute. As a fan of the Golden State Warriors he was part of a pretty decent team and trust me, Manute definately had his moments. No he wasn't Shaq or Olajuwan, but he was fun to watch, especially when he's launch those 3 point Bombs and Don Nelson would about jump out of his skin.

Those pictures are not too clear, but the guy does not look chinese. At least not the han type anyways.

Manute was fun to watch, and he was very effective on 'D' too. They showed a stat once that showed that throughout his career, the opposing team's field goal percentage was significantly lower when he was in the lineup than when he was not. Funny to see since he was so awkward, but he was effective in altering shots.

<< maybe it will begin to dispel the short asian stereotypes. >>

Not a stereotype, on average Asians are shorter than Scandinavians... does that mean all Asians are short? Of course not, in every population there plenty of people that are taller or shorter than the median or mean height.

That Ming guy is supposed to be good. I dunno, it's hard to measure how good someone is until they play against top notch competition, it will be interesting to see how these guys fare. The one guy playing with the Mavs right now isn't doing too hot, but he's still adjusting.

It is not just a stereotype, that is the fact, just like asian elephants are short compared to african dumbos.

i agree, definitely not han.

btw, it IS a stereotype that asians are shorter:

ster·e·o·type Pronunciation Key (str--tp, stîr-)
n.
A conventional, formulaic, and oversimplified conception, opinion, or image.
One that is regarded as embodying or conforming to a set image or type.
Printing. A metal printing plate cast from a matrix molded from a raised printing surface, such as type.

I wish, but with a 3:1.3 billion ratio of tall to short Chinese, I think the stereotype still stands. Biggest Chinese guy I know is 6-4.

And that guy looks really really old

That dude doesn't look Chinese cuz he ain't Han, he's from Mongolia. At 7' and 300 pounds, can we say Shaq stopper? :Q

About the 7'6 dude, Yao Ming, have you guys read the ESPN magazine cover story on him? They say he's going to revolutionize the game because of his size and his ability to play at the SF position. Can you imagine a 7'6 SF!? They say he can dribble and drain shots from the perimeter! They say he ain't no Shawn Bradley so hopefully, he's got quick feet and coordination.

Size doesn't mean a thing at Center if you don't have any muscle. Shaq has pretty much made every center in the NBA look like immobile twigs in constant danger. This guy will be no different. Who cares if he can hit the perimeter shot? Sabonis can too, but we all know how effective he is...

sabonis was one of the better centers in the league, center who can shoot the perimeter shots draws players like shaq to defend outside of the key so other players can penetrate

LITERALLY or METAPHORICALLY speaking? =P
