Whoa... NVRAID and ICHxR work out of box for Vista RC2

In other words, Vista x64 already contains drivers, so it can be installed directly by booting from DVD, without even manually adding RAID drivers.

If you recall, only way to install Vista x64 on RAID partition was to run installation from Windows XP x64.

I can confirm that this doesn't work for 32-bit version.

Sadly it depends on your board whether it works out of the box. I can't install to a nvRAID RAID 0 array with RC2-64 still on my DFI SLI-DR expert.

It would be better if MS just let you build software RAID sets in the installer, those onboard softRAID controllers are crap.

You can't boot off a completely software-based RAID array.

I don't know about you, but I can. And even if Windows can't do that a small ~100M partition with the kernel on it would be enough to get that started and most people would never even notice it's there.
