repost kthx :)

I searched for Keanu, Harley, and Matrix. Nothing came up, kthx. ;)

that's odd, i didn't even see him make a post... :Q
Reeves should give hal;f his salary to the person who cast him. He's lucky to have been given the part seeing how he only plays Keenu Reeves in every movie he's been in. "Whoa" describes his acting ability to a tee. Is there a movie where that isn't his most memorable line?

Dangerous Liaisons. He never says Whoa in that.
Dangerous Lesions? Is that a Movie about Malenoma? I've never seen it!

This, after he gave up the right to movie ticket royalties so the Wachowskis could fund the special effects.

Everything I've read about the guy from interviews with cast and crewmembers indicates he's an extremely dedicated actor who takes his craft seriously.

Is the he the best actor in the industry? Definitely not.

But what most people don't realize is that while his vocal acting ability may not be awe-inspiring, his facial expressions and body movements are very realistic in the scenes he is in.

People complain that a majority of time, he acts somewhat dumbstruck, but that's often the way the character should be reacting.

Throughout all of the Matrix, he had to come to grips with revelation after revelation with regards to misconceptions he'd had regarding a reality he existed in for all of his life. Is it any wonder he had a blank stare and spoke tersely?

Maybe you haven't seen "the Gift" or "the Watcher." Both were pretty good movies, and through both of them, he was quite good, never having any of those "whoa" moments. "The Replacements" was extremely enjoyable, partly due to his breezy, simple performance.

It's fun to bash the guy, but really, he's one of the better overall actors out there. And I can't imagine another big-name Hollywood actor who could have pulled off Neo better.

Ah, here's the article re: the royalties.

Generous actor Keanu Reeves has sacrificed a massive $38 million to prevent the two new Matrix films being scrapped. The Speed hunk gave up his claim to a cut of the films' ticket sales when producers began fearing the box office would not cover the costs of making the special effects-laden flicks. The gesture is one of the most generous ever in Hollywood and has stunned studio bosses. A Warner Bros. insider says, "The special effects in the new movie are beyond belief - but hugely expensive. There was a real danger the projects would be scrapped until Keanu offered to sign away his cut. He has kissed goodbye to a huge sum of money." Keanu was paid $10 million for the first Matrix movie in 1999 and picked up a further $35 million as his cut of worldwide box office sales.

Yeah, the Matrix Revisited was probably the best "making-of" ever. So many tiny details were pointed out that I never noticed on the first 20 viewings of the film (such as the grid-style walls in the Matrix).

I think the fact that Keanu was able to make it through a Baudrillard book is a feat unto itself, and speaks volumes of his dedication to the craft.

Do you think an actor like Tom Cruise would read a script of the directors told him to read 3 philosophy/technology books before opening the script?

I'll second that.

Which makes Guy Pearce eligible for the "pimptastic" slogan. After LA Confidential and Memento, he certainly deserves it.

But this thread's not about him, so carry on with the Keanu worship/bashing. ;-)
