Definitely not.
Comets don't "whiz by" us like that, nor to they hit our atmosphere. If a comet hit us, it'd be like the extinction of the dinosaurs again. Comets stay in the sky for weeks at a time as they are very very far away. Meteor showers are the result of the earth passing through the debris left by a comet as it travels through the solar system.
