I liked the HL2 video better since it was an actual gameplay session...

The D3 video was more of a demo trailer! Let us see a person playing the game and doing crazy stuff like the HL2 player was!

Throwing radiators is pretty cool. One of those tractor beam handhelds would come in handy with these kids blaring their 110% THD stereos at 500 dB! 😀

I imagine 500DB would be enough to cause an earthquake.

I would hafta say that while the doomIII graphics DO look better, i am much more excited by HL2 because of the physics engine and gameplay. There have been lots of games in recent memory that had nice graphics but sucked in the gameplay department, and pretty much had no following (UT2, anyone?). I have a sinking feeling doom3 will be more of the same, albeit very pretty. HL2 is where its at!

I think they're two entirely different genres.

DoomIII is more of a Resident Evilish game.

HL2.. well.. more action/FPS.

In the end, from what most people saw from the DoomIII beta... it was a good game.

But remember now, this is iD doing the work. iD has done some excellent games in the past.

Imagine a merger between QuakeII and resident evil then pair it with DX8.1/9 graphics and super advanced lighting/shading and I think you'd have DoomIII in a nutshell.
