Whoa: CNN.com story about infant rape in South Africa.

That is beyond disturbing, I have no tolerance whatsoever for the sexual abuse of women & children, but this produces an overwhelming desire to eviscerate

That is so sickning. I hope Mandela or hsi former wife become President again. The current one is so dumb and corrupt. Like last year when he said Aids doesn't exist.

Do we really believe that they think raping virgins especially infants will remove aids? I sure as heck don't and they are just using the myth to rape people.

Justice needs to be done. For a country like South Africa to be so away from justice after what it people went through is ridiculous.
 
that's completely sickening; i can't believe these people think that raping a baby will cure them of aids. the only cure for aids they need is a bullet to the head.

I do not agree with you in your desire prosecute these people. They have done nothing wrong in their minds, they are just following through with a rumor that started. This rumor isn't just a little gossip rumor, though. This rumor is internationally acknowledged, perhaps it is our fault for not putting enough funding (charity) into the effort to stop this rumor. Be understanding.

I believe that it is YOU who is being ignorant. While many of us believe it is completely wrong for these people to perform these acts, we are not facing the same circumstances that these people are. There is an AIDS epidemic in Africa, many people are afraid of ilnesses acquired while their immune system is down. Someone started a rumor saying that having sex with a virgin will cure or prevent AIDS, these people are just following advice from their neighbors.
 
The thought of having sex with a young person (as disturbing as it sounds) to cure an STD isn't all that new. It was common in Victorian times for older men who had contracted an STD (usually syphallis) to pay a special fee to a madam and get a "fresh" (read: virgin) girl to help cure him. Of course, it wasn't socially acceptible at the time, but neither were the affairs the men were having...

In no way am I condoning their actions, it makes me just as sick as everyone else. But I thought I'd toss out that little bit of trivia so we don't deem the idea "heathenistic"

This is specifically mentioned in Crichton's The Great Train Robbery. So while it's nothing new, taking to the extreme of raping babies is absurd.

I say kill those fvckers with a broomhandle up the arse. See how they like someone shoving a large object in them without permision. If they're stupid enough to believe in a rumor like that they don't need to be alive. Why should we be funding programs in all the over seas nations? Why can't they tell their people to stop fvcking everything that moves. It would be simple and to the point. I would gladly go over there and exicute everyone of those idiots for what they did.

The most sicking thing is that these animals thought that by raping these babies they would be cured of AIDS, and that they most likely spread it to these innocent babies, condeming them to a short and painfull life. UUGGHH this makes me so upset that I'm shaking right now. I have several friends with infant children and this really bothers me. If this happened to any of them I would,without hesitation kill the @sshole that did it.

you can go ahead and believe i'm ignorant. however, you should know that i am well aware there is an aids epidemic in africa. it's not like i've been living in a cave... i know all this stuff you're telling me. i've known it for a while now. it's nothing new. so why don't you tell me exactly how i'm ignorant. because i dislike people that fvck babies? because i don't care what circumstances they're in? neither of those two things say anything about ignorance. so please enlighten me.

I think you guys are being very ignorant. South Africa isn't a completly poor and helpless nation in Africa. It is one of the most modern nations in Africa. Rape is quite illegal there especially child abuse.

If there are protetsts with Nelson Mandela and Winnie Mandela against it I think its pretty serious.

did you read in the article about hte baby needing surgery for what happened to her? she will never be the same again and you want them to not be prosectuted?

obviously many ppl in the country can see its an outrage judging by the protests and the amounts of ppl speaking out against it.
