Yep, you've heard me. I know you already knew it, but I am blown away by the quality of these speakers. They seems small, but they pack a powerful punch. I'm very glad I skipped Klipsch 4.1 and went with these. Plenty of power for my apartment, more than I thought I would actually get. For $120, its quality is unbelieavable, especially when they are hooked up to Hercules GTXP 🙂 So, if you are in the market for speakers and have only $100, borrow $20 more and get these. You WON'T be disappointed.

seems like there are alot of BA4800 lovers out there!!! i really wanna get a set!!! where did u get yours at...i have a little extra $$$ sittin around and think that speakers might be a worthy upgrade

Heard that they are even better than the Promedia 4.1 in some way?

How's the bass?? Can it handle high treble and bass at high volume? I would love to get something to replace my Altec45.2

Yep, it handles it great. Really good job for $120 speakers. I got mine at Amazon.com. They have them for $120 + $17 shipping - $15 coupon found anywhere. Also had another $15 GC, so I got them for $117 shipped. I think the best purchase I've made in a while, at least before I get Samsung 900NF 🙂

Man.. I was giving advice on the Klipsche speakers a while back and I wholeheartidly apologize for giving out false information.

Anyway.. I finally got to listen to the Klipsche Pro Media speakers for the first time at my favorite Beast (Average) Buy. They really sound like ass IMO. I was expecting so much more from a company that makes a quality (though I don't personally care for the sound characteristics) company. The highs are bright and the mid bass was bloated and one notey sounding. Boom and sizzle! Typical pc garbage speakers IMO. Just more power is all.

Sorry if I offended anyone here with my assessment of your Klipsche speakers. 😉

Now.. I took a listen to the BA speakers. They didn't have the $120 versions, but they had a $80 version. The sound was much more balanced with smoother highs, but I wouldn't say that they were great. Actually, the sounded a lot like my Cambridge Soundworks speakers to me. I'm not in love with the CSW speakers, but they sound pretty good for PC speakers IMO.

I'd have to say that the BA speakers as well as the CSW speakers are a notch about speakers like Altec and Labtec. After someone suggested I listen to a new set of Altec's because they supposedly changed them, I saw no difference. They are still junk IMO. Sorry once again for stating my true opinions.

The way I look at it is that pc speakers are nice because they are compact, fairly inexpensive and get the job done, especially when listening to mp3's. If you are really serious about sound, get out your checkbooks, grab a top end sound card for about $500, add an outboard DAC (PC environment is noisy!), get yourself a good amp and a good set of audio speakers. Of course, this takes a lot of money and robs you of useful space.

Sorry to dump on your post. I'm glad that you like your BA speakers. I've just been meaning to post my opinions after hearing a couple different models of pc speakers.

I had them for about three days only, I'm going to update it now. It's NOT worth $180 more for 4.1, that's for sure, unless you have money to waste. I love how crisp the sound is, I heard some sounds that I've never heard before in a song. They are THAT good.

I think I will add...

BA4800s are the best speakers below $300.

I really love these things. You can crank up the volume/bass all the way and it does not distort the music. Nothin but clear sound!

I love this thing. It is even better paired with my TB Santa Cruz.

YOu have to be careful there though. While the $80 version are decent 2.1 speakers, it's a much smaller sub, and also a smaller main driver which really hurts midrange. The amp is also not as good.

The $80 ones are not just a 2 speaker version of the BA4800. 2 speaker mode the BA4800 are still noticeably better than the BA635 or 790.

Just thought I'd throw that out there for you folks.

The BA4800 are the best PC set I've ever heard. I've not heard VideoLogic's insanely expensive stuff, and what I've heard they are better, but for the price I'd get a real Reciever and speakers.

My sentiments exactly! 🙂

What would you guys recommend more using with these BA4800's? SB Live Value w/digital out or Santa Cruz? I'm in the market for a speaker system for the home pc...and glad I stumbled upon this thread.

Thanks.

The BA 4800 are the best value for the money. The Klipsch midrange problem is better now with the CP1 preamp. Well worth the extra 50$ and get it if your considering a set of Promedias.

If you listened to them at BestBuy you are only listening to 20% of its potential. The clarity is so much better on my home system. Most speakers sound like ass at BestBuy even the big expensive HTS. I have listened the the BA4800s and while they are good they dont hold a candle to the Klips 🙂

Santa Cruz, no contest. I've tried my BA4800s with both, and the SC just beats the snot out of the SB Live Value in comparison.

I'd like to know how you guys perceive differences between 2 or more systems...are you actually A/B testing or you just giving opinion. You have to remember everyone's test bed is a little different...some people cram there subs into corners promoting terrible/distorted low freq response...others position satilettes in unequal - non eqi-distant proportions to the ears...some use sound cards with terrible AD/DA converters...etc etc...many variables that can cause a bad sounding system. I don't know jack about these computer speaker systems, so my comments are irrelevant, but being in large production audio studios more than a few times a week, I've come to know what sounds good to the human ear (industry standards)...and what is used to make the mixes you hear on the radio and cd's. So if any of you could point me to some articles or reviews that realistically/technically compare systems, that would rock. I'm just trying to get a decent sounding system for my internet pc... 🙂

Santa Cruz looks good...damn mighty cheap too.

Thanks again.

About these BA4000's...I notice 2 of the speakers are on 20" mounts...can they be placed on the back of my desk and **angled down** towards my ears? I don't have a place for them on the ground. Do they pivot? I'd then put the other two deskmount monitors to the right and left of the desk close to me.

Thanks.

You can take the floor mount stands off.

But can they pivot so to point down? I'd like to have them coming from up above and then two lower to the right and left...would give more spacial orientation. Either way, I'm sure I can rig something funny looking up.

Thanks.

The BA 4800 are better in actual sound reproduction and the Klipsch Promedias do over exaggerate the bass making it more pleasing to the ear for DVD audio and gaming.

PwAg,
They do not pivot down. The speakers are set in one position on the stands. Personally, I don't think the stands are all that great (although not terrible either). They are cheap plastic stands. But hey, they are better than those Cambridge 4-point surround ones, though, and at least the ba4800s come with stands.
