I'm graduating (high school) in a few days.

Well today, I found out that I'll be giving the commencement speech at our ceremony. This is going to be pretty cool, I think there were about 2200 people there for it last year.

And today I got a letter from my counselor, and it said that I had received a scholarship - but I didn't apply for any.

I log onto the school's website and I found out that I got a $3k scholarship for next year. I guess my ACT score was high enough that I was automatically applied for it by my school, or something. But damnnn. $3k in free money, basically.

Goood dayyyy.

Don't bore them.

And be careful not to sound too much like a motivational poster. That sort of thing can make people nauseous. 😉

I suggest taking some inspiration from here.

Tell it like it is. Get political with it. Be controversial. Insult people. Make them regret choosing you. Go out with a bang. You'll thank me later.

Whatever you do, make sure you use "Oh the Places You'll Go" by Dr Seuss. Everyone will think you are completely original as well as normal yet lucid.

Whatever you do, don't use the "Unwritten" song by some chick. It's way cliche and was used at least twice at local HS graduations near me.

Depending upon where (or if) you go to college that might pay for a semester's worth of tuition/books ... or a tic tac.

Good luck ...

I did a calvin and Hobbs comic for mine.
Probably was the 1 thing i really remember from school was doing the speech at graduation. Congrats man!
