Maybe you've seen these before, but they're new to me. A friend just sent me a link to some clear cases. These aren't just semi-transparent, these are 100% see-through. Sorta freaky...very expensive.

Insane3D - Your case is nice but I am more impressed by how neat your desk it. I can't remember the last time I saw the surface of my desk .

ok... if you know what a nuB is and are just making a funny... haha :D ... if not...

"nuB" AKA newbie /n[y]oo'bee/ n. Slang term used to describe someone that is a novice especially in the geek infested realm of computerdom.

Don't worry about, some like to give the new guys, nuB's if you will, a hard time. All in good fun :D.

Clear cases are awesome to look at, wich I had one :(

From:
http://www.clear-viewtech.com/infopage.html
"There is some EMI/RFI "noise" associated with
electronics. CVT cases do not have any EMI/RFI shielding."

heh.. "some" noise I love that.

Remember metal cases reduce the EMC signature of a pc, but they also improve the immunity of the sensitive electronics from radiated emissions. Probably best not to use your cell phone next to such a pc.

You can get spray on clear conductive coatings (probably not too good on some plastics).

I have no trouble with EMI issues. The case is about a foot from my Panasonic Super Flat 27" TV, and about three feet away from my monitor and I have no problems....

Glad you not having problems, I should have said intentional transmitters/radiators, like cell phones, walkie-talkies. All of these guys can easily emit electric fields strengths above 10V/m, and all those nice long pcb traces will act like antenna and may or may not get distrupted.

Damn Insane3D.... I was going to take & link a shot of my clear/blue acrylic case, (5 5.25 /1 3.5 bay) but your tidy area makes me ashamed of my desk. Give me a few days and a box of trash bags to clear the Mountain Dew bottles and assorted junk, and I'll post mine . :p

Edit... Maybe... ;)

I love it..and the cooling is excellent. The case does sound like a wind tunnel because of my choice of fans, but the noise doesn't bother me. It has two front 80mm intakes, one side 120mm intake, one 120mm "blowhole" on top, and one more 80mm exhaust on the rear. All the 80mm's are Sunon "High Speed" and the 120mm's are those "Insane" ~130CFM YS Tech finger choppers. The particular case is in my bedroom, a few feet from my bed, and it is on 24/7 and it does not bother me a bit. Sort of sounds like the computer room @ work.. I think working 3rd shift has taught me the fine art of sleeping through anything....:)

Yes, my case has a blue front/bay sides, and the rest clear. I went with the 92mm low noise Sunons. ( 2 intake, 1 mid-rear, and a top blowhole ) It is a pain in the ass to change drives. I have had recent issues with the PC Power & Cooling Turbo Cool 425W PS causing my monitor ( 21" iiyama Vision Master Pro ) to shimmer when in the case, but the Sparkle and other PSUs work fine. I have the Turbo Cool in one of my backup rigs with a metal case working fine.

I do like the case very much though, and I will stick with it over any others at the moment. It is very roomy being 19.75" long/ 8.50" wide/ 21.25" tall. I am within a couple of weeks of finishing an acrylic bottom unit to house my watercooling gear in. I will post pics & a mini review of the cooling components & effectiveness in this forum when complete. It will be a monster adding 8.50" to it, ( 29.75" tall ) but will be unique. I don't plan on moving it much... ;)

Insane,

How's the noise characteristics of the case? I mean is it louder than a similarly configured metal or aluminum case?

It seems to have a different tone than the SX840 cases I have downstairs. It seems like the acryllic absorbs alot of the fan vibration and when I was running a Delta 60mm, it seemed to absorb some of the "whine" the Delta has. The panels are thick...like 1/4" so that seems to dampen some of the noise. :)

Insane,

Thats probably what I need, I've been itching to use my Delta 80mm fan (you know, the one that blows 80cfm and noisy as hell:)) on a more permanent basis. Acoustic foam mixed in with Dynamat doesn't seem to tame it in my SX1040 case. I just need some more overtime to pay for it..if only I'm not so tired already.....:(

One more question: Is it sturdy enough?I'm not going to wrestle with it or something, but I don't want anything like delicate glass either.
