Who would win in a fight?

Man, this is truly a difficult decision for me, but in the end, I would have to go with Maximus.

I liked Troy's coreography for Achilles' fights slightly better than Gladiators for Maximus, but something tells me, in the end, Maximus would be victorious.

edit: I don't think Achilles' Heel should play a factor in this poll, b/c the movie was not fictional regaurding immortality.

well considering that Achilles' only weak point is the heel....that's one huge advantage.

Going by the story, since I haven't seen the movie.

This thread begs the question - does Maximus know about Achilles' heel? If so, then Maximus. If not, toss-up.

I googled the Heel part up b/c I didnt understand what his heel was all about.
So yeah, I got this:

When Achilles was born, his mother, Thetis, tried to make him immortal by dipping him in the river Styx. As she immersed him, she held him by one heel and forgot to dip him a second time so the heel she held could get wet too. Therefore, the place where she held him remained untouched by the magic water of the Styx and that part stayed mortal or vulnerable.

I don't think Achilles Heel should play a factor in this poll, b/c the movie was not fictional regaurding immortality.

Could someone explain to me? I don't think that the movie went into Achilles' heel...

Greek mythology (from the Iliad) says Achilles was half man, half god. When he was a baby his mother dipped him in the river styx by his heel, the only part that didn't get covered, thus the only vulnerable part on his body.

Thats where the term "achilles heel" comes from.

Achilles' invulnerability comes from the fact that his mother, the sea-nymph Thetis, dipped him into the river Styx when he was a baby, which confers invulnerability on any weapon. Unfortunately, she held him by his heel, so his heel was vulnerable, his only weak spot. His strength comes from the fact that he has deity in his blood and that he was taught by Chiron, kickass centaur.

Remember, no matter what mythology says, the Romans conquered the Greeks, so there's only one possible answer... 😉

it begs the question... why didn't Achilles wear fricken' shoes?

I think Achilles would kick Max's arse. He was a total bad azz.
