Who would like to help me find a job? Pretty please!

So let me get this straight. Your posting of how you think this guy is an idiot is going to change something? I'm trying to figure out the CAUSE of your post. What is the point of telling everyone you think he's an idiot? If every time you did something stupid, people started calling you an idiot over and over, I'm sure you'd feel pretty stupid. I don't see why you can't just read his post and think to yourself, wow this guy is stupid, and then just move on. What compels you to actually voice that he's an idiot. Isn't that what we did in elementary school? Ur telling people to stop wasting their time on Anandtech, and start filling out resumes when it seems you are spending your time posting comments on how stupid people are. Do you really think this name-calling stuff is mature? Come on.

You guys are harsh(although the links were funny as hell). I give the guy props for trying. Have you tried monsters.com and such?

<< I'd just like to apologize for sending that link to McDonalds - I mean, this was clearly a Hot Deal...it was, wasn't it?? oh...shoooooot...waiiiit...you mean, posting your resume is NOT a hot deal?? You don't say? Are you sure??? But wait...why don't we all interlock arms, team up, and ALL post our resumes!!! Together, we can transform this forum into Hot Deals and Resumes!!! YEAH!!! What a great idea!! Oh, but wait... I bet if 20 people post their CV's on this forum, all you idiots defending AlwaysON would be singing a different note. Do you HONESTLY think this goon is the ONLY person looking for a job right now?? Do you think EVERYONE who graduated from U. of Wash with AlwaysON's class was unable to find a job??? NO WAY!!! The top candidates were employed immediately -- the less competitive ones are actively looking for jobs....and the bottom of the stack...well, i guess they waste their time posting their resumes on AT Hot Deals. Yeah, what a winner. Check this out: "University of Washington, Seattle WA. BS (and no, this doesn't stand for Bull Sh*tter)"...what kind of MORON puts such a phrase in his resume?? Who are you kidding, man. You got links to Fry's and McDonalds BECAUSE YOU DESERVED IT.

And for the rest of you blaming the economy, you make me sick. That's all people do nowadays...they blame others for their own inadequacies and shift the locus of control away from themselves. Can you change the economy??? NO. So what are you gonna do?? Cry about it??? Blame the terrorists for your unemployment!!??? Did it ever occur to you that you should actively seek a job?? And if you are not competitive for limited positions, then perhaps you should improve your marketable skills??? Or are you going to moan to everyone you meet (including AT Hot Deals) about how you're the victim, blah blah. Perhaps if you whiners spent a little less time on AT and a little more time sending out resumes and calling up employers, then maybe...just MAYBE...you'd have a job. In the meantime, continue to point the finger...blame the economy, blame the immigrants...blame the minorities...and for all you Christians out there...blame God...

Wow, someone really got a problem with this. So, I guess I should defend my actions.

1. This is not a desperate move. I have not even started my job search.
2. You're right, graduates at the top of the stack are getting jobs. I didn't plan on looking for a job because prior to September 11th, I was making more as an intern then most people do at senior positions and on my way to my own budget to fund my own research. To say that after the tragedy research funding at Boeing became non-existent is not whining, it's simply the truth.
3. Regarding my phrasing "University of Washington, Seattle WA. BS (and no, this doesn't stand for Bull Sh*tter)". What kind of a MORON would think this is something I would put on my resume?
4. If moaning and groaning gets me a good job, that's fine with me.

thanks for taking the time to write so many LONG words of encouragement. it seems that you're really busy doing something productive...

Well, AlwaysOn, would you mind telling me what major did you graduated from? I am just curious.....

>>

TC Technical Communication

<< AlwaysON,
I graduated from UW in March with a BS in Computer Engineering. Back then, it was still not terribly difficult to find a job. But I must say that I really hated the Tech Communications classes that I was forced to take as a part of my major .... with a passion. Good luck with the job search.
>>

I know exactly what you're talking about. those tech writing classes are terrible. that's why i'm trying to concentrate on the usability side...

<< "winning an online argument is like winning first place in the special olympics--you're still retarded" >>

Well said, and please let this be the end to this madness. Afterall, it's Christmas!!!🙂

<< I am in a simmular situation education wise, but in my experiance you have to present yourself as best as possible because the first meeting is the most important... anyways, clean up your resume (start by removing the stupid BS joke.) >>

OK people, i DID NOT copy and paste my resume...

<< (imagine if everyone did that?) >>

I've got to side with Valsalva on that issue. alwaysON, you are exactly like the people who cut in line at a movie theater or a restaurant. They always have some excuse, sob story, or otherwise petty rationalization about why they should get special treatment. But the truth is that they just don't care about following the rules that everybody else follows, and they, and you, feel entitled out of pure egoism.

I think, alwaysON, that you had the sympathy of a lot of posters because it can be a tough job market, but now that you admit that you A) aren't hurting financially, and B) haven't even started your job hunt yet, I think that you are shown for being the smug, above-it-all rule flouter that you are.

Ahem, the master plan hasn't worked out too well, has it? No job offers from this thread? Imagine that! Were you thinking that someone in a position to hire you would see this thread, grin and slap his head in a "Mentos moment," saying "oh, that rascally scamp--can't follow simple rules, but that out-of-the-box creativity is just the kind of employee I need!"

If you had been thinking rationally, posting your resume in this fashion would have been much more likely to result in your being harrassed (spammed, prank calls, XXX gay porn mailing lists, tracking down your job supervisors to act as surrogate child abuser parole officers), or even being punked-up by some irate Anandtecher out "wilding" on a Friday night.

In other words, genius, you would have to give out your name, address, phone number, etc. Care to post that now for everyone to see?
