Sorry if it's a repost. Searches for "Clinton" and "Chelsea" didn't pick it up.
In her new book, "Living History," doting political mom Hillary Clinton admits that she and Bill were so distracted during their 1994 trip to Moscow that they forgot all about their then-14-year-old daughter, Chelsea - leaving her at the Kremlin to fend for herself as they headed off to the airport to fly home to the U.S.
In fact, says Mrs. Clinton, she didn't even notice Chelsea was missing until the former first daughter popped up at the airport, out of breath after making a run for it through Russian security. Her Secret Service agent practically had to carjack a delivery van to catch up to the forgetful first parents.
Hillary breezily details her daughter's real-life home-alone nightmare, saying that now "it seems funny."
"As our long motorcade left the Kremlin, Chelsea and Capricia [Marshall] were somehow left behind, standing on the steps with Chelsea's lone Secret Service agent and one of Bill's valets," Mrs. Clinton recalls. "They realized what was happening as they watched the last car pull out and two men roll up the red carpet.
"The agent and Capricia spotted a beat up white van and raced over to it, determined to commandeer it." Luckily for Chelsea, the driver spoke English and agreed to help by making "a mad dash through the barricades to the airport."
When the abandoned foursome arrived, however, Chelsea's parents were nowhere in sight, and Russian security refused to let the party past the terminal checkpoint.
"Russian security recognized Chelsea, but they couldn't figure out why she was not with us inside," Hillary writes. "While they were trying to sort out the confusion, Chelsea and her party picked up their bags and ran toward the terminal."
Hillary adds blithely, "I didn't even discover Chelsea was missing until we were ready to board the plane, and they came panting into the terminal."
