Who would forget their kid in Russia? CLINTON!? :-P

Sorry if it's a repost. Searches for "Clinton" and "Chelsea" didn't pick it up.

In her new book, "Living History," doting political mom Hillary Clinton admits that she and Bill were so distracted during their 1994 trip to Moscow that they forgot all about their then-14-year-old daughter, Chelsea - leaving her at the Kremlin to fend for herself as they headed off to the airport to fly home to the U.S.

In fact, says Mrs. Clinton, she didn't even notice Chelsea was missing until the former first daughter popped up at the airport, out of breath after making a run for it through Russian security. Her Secret Service agent practically had to carjack a delivery van to catch up to the forgetful first parents.

Hillary breezily details her daughter's real-life home-alone nightmare, saying that now "it seems funny."

"As our long motorcade left the Kremlin, Chelsea and Capricia [Marshall] were somehow left behind, standing on the steps with Chelsea's lone Secret Service agent and one of Bill's valets," Mrs. Clinton recalls. "They realized what was happening as they watched the last car pull out and two men roll up the red carpet.

"The agent and Capricia spotted a beat up white van and raced over to it, determined to commandeer it." Luckily for Chelsea, the driver spoke English and agreed to help by making "a mad dash through the barricades to the airport."

When the abandoned foursome arrived, however, Chelsea's parents were nowhere in sight, and Russian security refused to let the party past the terminal checkpoint.

"Russian security recognized Chelsea, but they couldn't figure out why she was not with us inside," Hillary writes. "While they were trying to sort out the confusion, Chelsea and her party picked up their bags and ran toward the terminal."

Hillary adds blithely, "I didn't even discover Chelsea was missing until we were ready to board the plane, and they came panting into the terminal."

i don't think anyone of us is anywhere near qualified to comment on that type of situation.

they are the 1st couple. they expect others to do certain things for them.

i don't know if i would ever abandon my kids or not IF i were president.

btw, it wasn't intentional.

Whoa, is something wrong with the servers? Clicked to respond, and it took a coupla of minuted for this window to pop up

Anyway.

There is no reason a parent should lose track of their child. None whatever.

you get the point........

It should be pointed out that your examples are true examples of ABANDONMENT. what the Clintons did was NEGLECT, but it wasn't ABANDONMENT, it wasn't intentional, it's not like the clintons too chelsea there with the intention of leaving her there.

also, if i read the article correctly the secret service agent was still with her. not exactly abandonment

I understand I just wanted to point out the surprising popularity of abandoning children. There are way more pathetic excuses for a human being walking around this country than I previously thought.

i agree, abandoning children is a PATHETIC thing to do. and it's that EXACT reason why i want to define the differences between abandonment and what the clintons did.

to use this story to take a cheap shot at the clintons and calling it abandonment seems to me to cheapen the real issue at hand.

I didn't mean to be making cheap shots at all, I guess I just chose poor wording. Thread title has been changed, is that better?

i wasn't meaning to get on your case either. it's just that as i thought about it, it changed my perspective. if you see my earlier response it was much lighter in tone.

nice edit btw.

It's not like they left her in a dumpster by herself. She was with a Secret service agent. Some people miss no opportunity to bash the Clintons.
Besides, when your kid graduates from Stanford, then you can criticize the Clintons as bad parents.

HA3, sadly, has already been done, so it would be HA4: Stuck in the Kremlin.😉

I wonder if the driver of the van got a reward, and what?

If the russians didn't recognize the van and blew it up as it flew through the blockade, who would get the blame?

And in other news, reading comprehension on ATOT hits another all-time low as hundreds of poster neglect to notice that the fault belonged to the Secret Service agent that was assigned to Chelsea.
Stupidest post in a day of stupid posts. This is the President we're talking about. He and his family don't live "normal" lives while he is in office. They are continually surrounded by security and entourage. They are constantly rushing from one place to the next.

Hillary: "I didn't even discover Chelsea was missing until we were ready to board the plane, and they came panting into the terminal."

Granted, the life of a Presidential family is a busy one, but it seems that Hillary didn't even realize that her daughter wasn't with them. That doesn't seem at all out of place?
