*** Who Won the Final Debate? ***

*** Who Won the Final Debate? ***

  • Barack Obama

  • Mitt Romney

Mitt's foreign policy plan:
"If I'm President, America will be very strong."
"We have to get the bad guys."

Wow. Just wow.

During the first half, Romney seemed to be doing pretty well - I don't really like the guy, but even I was nodding my head. Then I kinda realized it was mostly fluff and he was doing a lot of "I agree with the President's policies, but I would have done them sooner.. and with better hair."

Slight edge to Obama, most a mostly useless debate.

Gary Johnson 2012.

As I wrote in the live thread, this entire debate summed up:

Obama: "We've done a bunch of stuff when it comes to foreign policy."

Romney: "I'd do all that same stuff but better because.. er.. Obama's a poopyhead!"

Mitt's foreign policy plan:

Wow. Just wow.

Mitt basically agreed with every single thing Obama has done or would do. He had absolutely nothing. Obama slammed him with the Navy hit Mitt tried to charge. Something about Horses and Carriages The ONLY charge he made that stuck was the unemployment and food stamps.

Romney lost, he was on the defensive way too much and Obama had a no bullshit answer to every charge Romney threw his way.

ya, because American politics is never useless ...

I don't often boil things down this simply, but anyone who thinks Romney won this debate is either a liar or utterly delusional. The man's lack of experience was palpable, he made not one single comment indicating anything he would do differently than Obama, and he was on the defensive the entire night.

This was a bigger win over romney than in the second debate. Almost, almost as bad as the first debate but reversed.

I think President Obama won, but Mitt did well enough that it wasn't a KO. Mitt did agree an awful lot with Obama's foreign policy, and metooism isn't like to win him many points.

John Kerry was funny! It actually happened! We were all alive to see the day!

His tweet: "Mitt apparently had no binders on foreign policy"

I won't be hungry tonight, as I can cook and eat a great dinner. You see, I have binders full of horses and bayonets.

.... 😉

Having the one memorable line IMO makes obama the clear winner (apart from the fact that romney said absolutely nothing minus perhaps china currency manipulator)

It was a virtual tie. To win,Obama needed a knock out and failed to deliver. Mitt just had to keep his cool to win and he did that. Neither did anything egregious and neither did anything amazing.

Obama is in trouble after this debate. He needed to motivate the masses to go out and vote for him, but all he did was bore them.

Barack - Romney said he agreed with the president so often that it's obvious he thinks the President is best for foreign policy also!

I think one angle that is going to get some attention was Romney lying his ass off about some of his previous positions. Some of the "base" will not be pleased with some of what he said tonight (assuming they bother to even think about it, far from certain.)

It was a virtual tie.

BLACK KNIGHT:
Right. I'll do you for that!
ARTHUR:
You'll what?
BLACK KNIGHT:
Come here!
ARTHUR:
What are you going to do, bleed on me?
BLACK KNIGHT:
I'm invincible!
ARTHUR:
You're a looney.
BLACK KNIGHT:
The Black Knight always triumphs! Have at you! Come on, then.
[whop]
[ARTHUR chops the BLACK KNIGHT's last leg off]

BLACK KNIGHT:
Oh? All right, we'll call it a draw.

I don't think it was decisive either way - with Romney agreeing with the President on most points, it's hard for either side to accomplish that.

While Romney talked the talk, I'm uncomfortable that it's not very consistent with his foreign policy comments over the last year. Moving to the center just for a debate is meh.

I did think Romney visibly sweating in some shots was a bit amusing - when out of his comfort zone, he's a bit uncomfortable.
