Sticking with 4890 for a while. It handles most games I play right now. Newer games like Metro 2033 even hammer 5870s: http://www.legionhardware.com/articles_pages/metro_2033_performance_guide,10.html

50% performance boost to 30 frames isn't good enough for an upgrade which will cost $400.

If your mobo is CF capable, you could add another HD 4890 used from ebay, I did the same, two MSI HD 4870 1GB Cyclone with corrupted BIOSes and less than a month of use for $146.00, and I fixed them both and sold one and recouped the investment, an HD 4870 for free!!

Metro 2033 scales well with CF. I can play it maxed with 4x FSAA (No AAA) and 16x AF and never dips below 38fps in the worst case scenario at my lowly native resolution.

Sticking with my 4770 until at least May; might be able to get the wife to buy me whichever card has best bang for buck then for anniversary.

Where is the

[ ] How the cookie am I supposed to know whether I should buy a GTX 480/470 or a 5800, so I'll wait until the 6th of April to make up my mind, because I buy my stuff based on actual reviews and actual prices instead of emotional attachments.

Option?

Exactly. Anyone who says they're buying any new product sight unseen has more money than intelligence.

And there appear to be two people currently...

Uses 16xAF instead of 4xAF and shows stronger performance for the 5870. I've played the game start to finish and Legion seems off in it's numbers.

Ya that's what you get when there is no standardized benchmark in the game, which forces reviewers to use manual run benches. I am going to try and hold out for HD6000/GTX5xx series if I can...must resist the upgrade bug. :$

You got 2 4890s for $146? Wow. That's more than I paid for a single 4890.

Unfortunately, my P55-UD3R is 16x/4x. So no go for dual cards.

Hoping my 4850 lasts a couple years. Then I'll purchase whatever ATI has in the <$200 range.

As much as I love seeing ATI doing so well it seems like we may be approaching a time when we will see less and less of amazing price for performance offerings from ATI. nVidia needs to step it up and bring back the competition and competitive prices.

I wasn't expecting this poll to be so one sided. I thought there was more green folk lurking about.

Though this poll aint over till we see some Fermi results eh.

Well why would you even make this thread before there's any official info for the cards??? Makes no sense at all.

Actually this is the best kind of a poll .Because we get to see human nature at play here. Befor reviews and after reviews. This is actually a good study topic poll.

tbh, these video cards are getting ridiculous -- I'm getting tired of having to change my case just to fit in a video card. My HD5870 at the moment, barely fits into my Silverstone FT01 case :/ (Though I have 6 HDs, so I can't remove the HD bracket)

Sticking with my 4870 until ATI 6000/Nvidia 500 series most likely. I game at 1680x1050 and AA isn't a big deal to me.

The "poll" is another form of AMD "circle-jerk"
If you have read this forum for the past few months, I doubt that you can then objectively tell me that these results have any validity at all
So let's hear the conclusions that we can draw from this "poll", I see we have started with the usual subjects, carry on :D

Go party with your focus group friends who get free stuff that you pay for when you buy overprice Nvidia cards and leave us alone if you hate this place so much.

I would pick up a HD5870 but I think I'll hang onto my GTX 275 a little longer.

I'm happy Nvidia is packing lots of technology into their cards but their too big and too hot again. They need a die shrink just as the first GTX 200 series did. I waited a long time to get my 55nm GTX 275 and thou I really like it, the wait seemed like forever. I was really hoping that Nvidia wouldn't release such a power hog this time but they did and not only that but 6 months late.

Right now, AMD/ATI has the sweet spot of power draw and performance so if I were going to buy today it would be the HD5870.

No $$$ for you this time Nvidia :p

Well for all of you who said i made this poll too early, I did set its length to 90 days so it well encompasses the release of the GTX 480 & 470. Now that its out I still say I'm quite happy with my 5870 purchase looking at the benchmarks on games that I play like Left 4 Dead I'm better off anyways.

went from an 8800gt to a 5770 2 months ago cause i needed to upgrade. best bang for buck @ the time was the 5770, so that's what i got. Very happy w/ the results.:)

There was no way i was waiting for Nvidia until summer/fall 2010 to release their mainstream cards. ATI had the best product at the time and so i went that route. Simple as a pimple.

I'm going to try to resist upgrading until the DX11 refresh parts are out, hopefully by the end of this year. Paying $250-300 for a 5850 that isn't even twice as fast as my current card isn't really appealing right now.
