What video card series will you purchase or have purchased already?

Sure we may hear you cheer on your favorite card and argue about who makes the better hardware. The real success or failure of video cards will be measure by which ones we buy at the end of the day.

Bought a 5850 not long after they appeared. In fairness I didn't need one, but the idea of not having to even think about a new graphics card for a couple of years was appealing. Before that I had a GTS250, before that a 4830, 4670, 8600GTS. . . I have no fanboy loyalties there.

My 4670 still handles the games I play just fine, I might go ahead and crossfire it for the heck of it. Primary reason is I do have a crossfire capable board, and I do have 3 4670s between 3 computers right now.

Since February 2010, I've purchased a Asus 4350, Asus 5870, Asus 5850, and ordered a Sapphire 5970...gg, nice 1, try again nvidia!

I'll buy whatever gives the best performance for £200 or less when I upgrade, probably in September or so. Same as I do every time I buy a new card.

Got 4 5770s to put in 4 different computers.
Some folks in craigslist got good deals on my 2 Radeons 4830s and one 4650 :p

My 8800GT died on me but I was thinking of upgrading anyway. Bought an HD 5770 based on plenty of recommendation threads with similar systems to mine. Very pleased with the results.

I had a 5870 and wanted to play with something newer and faster. Based on my research (including Fermi), I got two new Sapphire 5850's for $510 shipped. I guess I'll see how good of a prediction I made tomorrow :).

> have purchased an nVidia 4XX series(fermi) card

That's me, I had dug777 send me one from the future.

Polls like this will make a lot more sense in a couple of weeks.

This poll is out a little early isn't it? We won't even know how well the nVidia 400 series cards will perform until tomorrow.

4890 does all my games at 1680 x 1050, so I'll stick with that til next build later on on in the year when I might move up to 1920x

Assuming no price changes, I'm sticking with my 4830. If prices make dramatic changes, I'll reconsider my vote.

was going to get a cheap 4890 to tide me over, that didn't go to well. ended up getting a 5850 instead.

I'm looking to upgrade my 8800GT. I go nVidia more often than ATI usually but this time I'm considering a 5870 for Eyefinity expansion but I'm waiting to see what Fermi does when it hits the streets.

I'll wait for official benches before I cast my vote on this one. If fermi performs then I'll vote with my wallet as well. Metro 2033 is a slide show on my 8800gts 512 so I stopped playing until I can get a replacement for my now dead 4890.

Sticking with 4890 for a while. It handles most games I play right now. Newer games like Metro 2033 even hammer 5870s: http://www.legionhardware.com/articles_pages/metro_2033_performance_guide,10.html

IMO This review paints a clearer picture of GPU performance in Metro 2033

Contemporary Graphics Cards in Metro 2033 -XbitLabs
http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/video/display/metro-2033.html

Uses 16xAF instead of 4xAF and shows stronger performance for the 5870. I've played the game start to finish and Legion seems off in it's numbers.

Bought a Radeon HD 5750 a month ago so I picked option 1, but in the past I've been strongly guided by option 5, and am currently looking for an ASUS EAH4870 (1 GB if possible) owing to its artwork (whilst retaining respectable modern-day performance).

Hoping my 4850 lasts a couple years. Then I'll purchase whatever ATI has in the <$200 range.

The 4870 512 MB I had prior was adequate for the most part but I wanted smoother frames with AA and AF at 1920 x 1200. I was going to wait till the 6000 series to upgrade but a combination of coming across some extra money and my general lack of willpower made the decision quite easy.
