For those of you who care, it's pretty simple.

Russia beat Germany--they killed about seven eighths of all the german military types who died in WWII and suffered more casualties by an order of magnitude. The US/Britain beat Italy, which was really never a fight, and the US beat Japan. With Russia we'll thank winter, cannibalism (yeah, they did that), door to door fighting, scorched earth, and stupid hitler. with japan we'll thank blockades, fire bombings, the battle of midway, and the US industrial machine.
