Who will grab the NL Wildcard?

The Astros are going to take it because the Rockies have terrible pitching. They're going to eat those relief pitchers alive, especially Shawn Chacon (if they allow him to close another game this year). It's going to be a long shot, playing the Braves, but if they win tonight against the Reds the Cubs will be in the thick of the race once again. Most likely the Giants won't be taking the NL West and probably won't get the wild card spot either since they play the Dodgers.

Even if the Padres are statistically alive, their magic number is 2 with 4 games remaining. We can pretty much rule the Padres out.

Even if the Astros win out, you still have 2 out of 3 teams who can still be in it.. they have the same amount of loses.... I wouldnt mind seeing a 3 way playoff 😀

Hey Red,

How bout them Chokeland A's this year? At least they won't subject you through the pain of five straight playoff chokes!

LOL! I think I recall Red saying he was officially a 'Sox fan now. From one loser to another!

Boston will stomp Anaheim like they did during the Fenway sweep this month. Angel fans having amnesia?

That's why I'm hoping they finish with a better record than the Twins so that they can play the Yankees instead.

EDIT: I mean worst, not better.

One series does not equal playoffs:roll:

EDIT: Season series was 5-4 Boston. Hardly dominance.......

Unfortunately, I don't think my Cubs are gonna pull it off. They just don't have the killer instinct like they did last year. They have lost a ton of key games this year. The bullpen has been weak (Hawkins, my god, 9 blown saves, he's just a loss waiting to happen). Sosa has been slumping. Starting rotation is on and off the DL. On paper they look awesome, but they haven't translated that to wins this season. Even if they do hold on to win the wild card, I don't think they'll get too far in the playoffs.

Eh, yet another "wait til next year"...

Yeah, but I'll take the playoffs anyway, it's a blast... 🙂

It's awfully hard on your nerves to be a Cubs fan...

I didn't know what to do with myself for about a week after that Florida series last year. 🙁

Weeeman, good point. I don't blame Bartman (although seriously, get the fvck out of the way). The Cubs had their chances, they just didn't capitalize.

Considering Angels are fighting for their lives w/ Oakland, it could come down to the last game... Minny pulled Santana out in the 5th inning yesterday, I don't think they really care about winning anymore... so most likely the Angels will finish w/ better record, but I could be wrong.

Chokeland is just doing their part to help out😉

They've had more then a fair share of chances. Hell 2 9th inning games blown THIS WEEK!

I was definatly in shock after the cubs lost that series. So much that I had to take a visit to the hospital [Ok, so it wasnt related... but still!]

I had free tickets to a world series game at Wrigley last year.. damn you cubs!

Thanks for O.Cabrera Cub fans! Good luck with Nomar's health!

LeTroy Hawkins should not make another appearance this year. He has just been horrible the past few weeks. Those 9th inning blown saves, both were with 2 out and 2 strikes!!

Free tickets to the WS at Wrigley...would there be anything better?

screw Chicago! They'll always be losers. Giants I have no idea how they've gotten so far, I guess they're overachievers but that probably won't take them to the playoffs. I think the Astros are gonna get it.

I no longer like you.

heheh sorry I got this guy on my fantasy league thats such a big chicago fan and also an annoying idiot that he irritates the hell out of the rest of us in the league. I think my dislike of chicago has to do more with him.

Yeah.. I strayed away from putting any cubbies on my fantasy team... would appear it worked out well for me.

Havent lost the hitting category all year [Thanks Ichiro!]

Today:
Cubs Prior vs Cinn Harang I think the Cubs will win

Giants J. Williams vs Pads A. Eaton I think the Pads might win because Jerome is coming back from injury and hasn't pitched in a ML game in 2 months.

Houston no game

The Stros are going to take it. This is just another in the long line of Chicago chokes. Of course the Astros are probably going to get bounced in the first round again, but hey.

Long live the curse of the goat!!

Did anyone watch the final play of the giants/padres game last night?

I think the guy who stumbled, just stayed down like he injured himself because he was too embarassed that he couldnt stay up on his feet when it mattered.

--Varsity baseball, my senior year, routine pop fly to the left fielder, hits his gloves and drops out, the kid falls over and pretends he passed out.

mohr should have listened to his teammates and let it drop.

edit: btw, he hyperextended his knee.

Or maybe... he got hit in the eye with a random lazer like the pilot... and decided to play it off as his leg?

2nd Inning - Cubs/Reds 0/0

Feels a little good that my stinky Mets played at least a small part in the possible elimination of the Cubbies.

I hope the Astros make it. Giants are filled with nobodies (I can't name anyone on that team besides Bonds, Schmidt, Alfonso and Durham) and fack the lousy Cubs. I hope a billy goat and a black cat show up in their final games.
