Who will be the 'AMD' of video cards?

Im with Doom on this one. ATI drivers just flat out suck, PERIOD, especially the way you have to monkey the install.

Point me in the direction where you could back up this statement that Nvidia has horrible drivers!

I will agree with Doomguy on the quality of Nvidia drivers,as a gamer I`ve yet to have a problem, some people just like bashing Nvidia for no reason,if you are going to, get your facts straight.

🙂

doomguy-> nvidia does have driver problems, relative to 3dfx they have a lot. Then again 3dfx is dead, but still they come out with many releases of drivers, which is too many for regular consumers who use the drivers on the CD. From a consumer standpoint, nvidia doesn't have good enough drivers at the start and that is why i can say they have worse drivers.

It won't be too long now that AMD becomes the Intel of the CPU market. Go figure.

As for the original topic, there is no AMD of video cards. ATI is nice and stable, nVidia is nice and fast, 3dfx is nice and dead 😛

BTW, if the NV20 is supposed to be faster than a GF2 Ultra, then doesn't it follow that it will also be dearer than the Ultra. Hmm... seems nVidia is pricing themselves out of the market.

There might not be one for now. Could have been 3dfx but you all know where they went.

ATi has good performance, features, and the supply. It might be considered almost "Intel" for the fact they are in OEMs as well as appealing to the consumer and it is a brand name.

nVidia could be the "Intel" as well for I think third party manufacturers charge way too much just for performance. It could be "AMD" because of it's third party developers. ATi makes their own cards just like Intel makes their own chipsets.

I am at a draw here. 😕

huh?

hans007 , With all due respect I will have to disagree with you,as a Nvidia card owner(also ex-voodoo owner)I`ve yet to have drivers problems with Nvidia drivers, infact I find them rock stable just like my old voodoo drivers & I`m talking about 120 plus games here & over two years of use with their drivers, sure no driver is 100% perfect that`s why you have updates now & then from all companies but to say what you`ve is wrong IMHO.

🙂
