Who watched the Duke Temple game today?

There is no doubt in my mind that the refs favor them...you would disagree if you're a fan, but its true.

i've been saying this forever.

the dagger was towards the end of the game when redick should have been called for the foul when he pushed off for the inbounds pass right in front of the ref and they didnt call. If they called it, Temple might have been able to make it a game.

Do sports officials have to take ethics class? Just wondering, because when they're bias for a particular team it's often very obvious. We seen quite a bit of that in the NFL playoffs and Superbowl. I had hoped that it wouldn't trickle down to the college level. Guess I'm wrong.

i hope they talk about it on sc...but half of espn staff love duke and deny everything

I think the comments Cheney made were because a fan, who after the game, tried to attack Sean Dockery. This is one eyewitness account by a Duke fan about the situation:

Yes, the report is true. I was sitting right down there. Happened as the players were leaving the court. I didn't see exactly what the fan did or to whom, but I immediately noticed that a group of Duke players stopped leaving the court and Demarcus was extremely upset and one of the other players was holding onto him as he gestured with his palm up toward the crowd. I believe that one or two of our players had already gotten off of the court, but most were in that group. Melch immediately began appealing to security (like do something). As I said, I didn't see what happened, but I noticed an incredibly agitated Temple fan trying to push forward toward our guys who had retreated slightly back onto the edge of the court and back behind more security. At least two fans in the crowd physically restrained the fan who was still screaming, gesturing, and trying to pull away toward out guys. Security was having trouble getting in there and a huge security guy who was on the court tried to get the fan to come over to the scorers table where I think he planned on pulling him over, but the guy was more intent on trying to pull toward our players. The huge security guard grew furious as other guards fought to get into the area he was restrained in by the other fans. They eventually got in there and hauled him out toward the Temple bench rather than where Duke was exiting. The huge security guy on the court followed and met them down there. By the one's guys reaction (the huge one), I actually got the impression that he may have been private security for Duke. He seemed intent on staying on the floor between our team and the guy no matter what. He let clearly marked stadium security go in and get him, but he was making an effort (yelling and gesturing) to get the guy to come to him as they tried to get in there.

The good news is our guys did the right thing regardless of what happened. Demarcus was extremely agitated and they made sure he didn't do anything stupid. Melch was all over security helping to alert them. They then backed up a bit onto the court while security did their job and more guys got there and helped usher them through.

Just let it go, man.

easy to say for you :disgust:

BTW, with posts like this, I can understand comments like these:
I can't critize something cause some fan went overboard...it was absurd and you know it. And when no one aknowledges it, people feel like they have to do soemthing about it

you say this like i dont know it happens...this is fvcking philly...when ridiculous stuff like the officiating in the game yesterday happens, fans take it into their own hands.

I feel no sorrow for Temple. They employ a coach that has threatened to kill other coaches, sent in "goons" break someone's arm in a game, and is literally a fvcking nutcase.

this isnt about temple...its about duke...so kindly stay on topic or fvck off.

And they say refs in the NBA are bad...at least in the NBA the top two teams (Pistons and Spurs) aren't obviously coddled.

They are in the BOTTOM rung of free throw differential and free throws attempted; the league average is 26+ FTA per game, the Spurs average 23+ and the Pistons 24+.
