How Johnson has one more vote (and it is one) than Nixon, I don't know.

PBS has done some excellent documentaries on Reagan. There has not been a better president to inspire and address the American people and those across the globe. That's how he earned the title of the Great Communicator. Kennedy was very good at communication, and in my opinion would be second on the list. The worst speaker was George W Bush. Barack Obama is the most overrated speaker. And really I don't think he is all that good.

In terms of the impact to our nation, the last seven years have been a total disaster. Race relations have returned to the lows of the 1960's. In many ways worse, because of all the progress that has been made. North Africa and the Middle East have been turned into a total disaster area, due Hillary Clinton leadership into the "Arab Spring". And now Europe is feeling the pain, due to the unprecedented massive migrations from these areas.

When you become president?

My comment addressed the unexamined assumption implied in the question as to who was the last good President. People have given numerous answers and all of them are just opinions people have about what they think is good. I wanted to thank my god that I know the real right answer so as to distinguish myself from them as they've all been led astray. What kind of childishly simple minded person believes they know the truth better than I do. None of them seem to recognize the fact that they know no better than I do and I know I have no idea. Have you any idea at all how fucked up the world is when it is full of people who know exactly what good is while actually knowing nothing at all? Give the matter a few brain cells of consideration if you want.

Long ago I showed great promise in a field that is enormous today and I also identified for my friend a way to become rich which he took. But I had a different interest, to discover what made me tick, and I pursued a life of modest service instead, one that would provide the modest needs any person has. I have completed that service, in my opinion, and have all that I need. Its enough for me now to be here to help you as best I know how to. I don't even mind you have no idea how lucky you are. <that's the wrong finger. 🙂

If you judge presidents by how well they gave speeches you're doing it wrong.... just saying...

How did their policies affect U.S. citizens should be the more important factor.

Here's a hint VooDoo economics isn't working out so well....

If you think that President Clinton was responsible for the invasion of Iraq which pretty much guaranteed ISIS would happen you've drunk the crazy juice...

I'll give my vote to Eisenhower. He started great infrastructure projects like the Interstate Highway system... among other things he did before he was elected.

He warned of the Military Industrial Complex just like Sanders warns of the 1% they have produced. What good is a President to presides over deaf people. Perhaps we should vote for a Monk who will burn herself alive right before our eyes. Oh golly, there's that terrible word 'Burn' again. I'm so sorry.

when's the last time we had a good president? i am trying to think back.

How would you even go about defining what is a "good president"? I think we can identify bad presidents and average presidents, but is there really such a thing as a "good president"?

Arguably, Obama hasn't done too bad of a job. He hasn't embroiled us in any new costly wars and seems to have smoothed out some of the economic problems that cropped up under the Bush Administration.

Nixon signed the Clean Water Act, the Clean Air Act, the Endangered Species Act, and the Occupational Health and Safety Act. He created EPA. He began the movement toward self-determination for Native Americans. He was one of the best Presidents wrt domestic policy.

He also ended the draft.

i remember reading that. he did a lot of good, but watergate gets remembered above all other things.

LBJ gave us Vietnam. !@#$ him!
Pretty much. Ike sent advisers, JFK sent SpecOps combat troops. LBJ sent more advisers and troops, but also specifically overturned JFK's documented exit strategy to get the USA out of Vietnam in late '64/early '65. (Although oddly enough, the overwhelming view among historians is that LBJ's Vietnam policy is exactly a continuation of JFK's, even though the documentation suggests otherwise.) Regardless, I doubt anyone sane is considering LBJ for the OP's poll.

EDIT: Hmm, apparently I stand corrected.

It was more that Nixon didn't care about domestic policy and was willing to support Congress' domestic policies in trade for support on his foreign policy agenda. It mostly worked.
