I think it tastes good too... and who cares if it's real chinese food. My gf is chinese and I always joke around with her about it, but she never eats it. But, then she eats KFC sometimes... lol

It specifically says that it appears to be an invention of a New York chef in the 70's.

The closest approxmiation to a genuine Chinese dish is the hunan "chung ton gai" says one of the sources in the article.
