Who was a greater genius?

Einstein = Newton...

Since Newton had no precedent and was doing these ideas purely on his own... I say he was a little more of a genius than Einstein. Of course, Newton's laws have been proven wrong... while Einsteins have not. (not 100% anyways)

Einstein...Atomic bomb...

You have 2 classes of genius there. As far as arts, Beethoven owns Shakespeare. For science, the two lived in different times, with diffent tools. Its hard to make a judgement there.

I thought that was mainly Heisenberg and Bohr. Einstein didn't do much in quantum mechanics.

Newton. He was the co-inventor of calculus (along with some German guy) and he of course was a master of physics. A lot of his theories are still used today 350 years later.

i would say its a toss up between Michaelangelo and Newton.

it was the arts that opened up the door to realism and the sciences that define it, and few had as great an impact on the world during the renaissance as Michaelangelo. Once the sciences were underway, Newton pretty much developed the fundamentals of physics and calculus. Calculus changed the technological world.

we wouldn't be where we are today without Newton. There would have been no Newton without Michaelangelo.

Einstein or Newton. The other two are laughable.

Einstein or Newton. The other idiots did nothing to further our understanding of the universe.

Two sad statements.

This is a tech forum, what do you expect? Genius is a relative word, and if your interests lie in the direction of science vs art, who are you going to thing more highly of?

And I'd say Einstein...some of his ideas OUTSIDE of science are pretty profound too.

Too bad he spent the last years of his life trying to turn lead into gold...

:laugh:

Incredibly disheartening.

It's the knee-jerk reaction of kids who have had "culture" rammed down their throats. One can hope they will eventually come to it... 🙂
