Both concepts of a wise selfless bureaucracy and kindly corporate boards just waiting for an opportunity to cut profits to bring jobs to America are so outdated and false it's ridiculous, but that's the choices we are given.

None of it is worth crap, and that's what either candidate will bring to the table and to our plates.

The faster people realize that the only interests that either government or corporations is profit and power the faster people will realize how high that steaming plateful is. When enough people realize just how screwed we are perhaps, just perhaps, they'll stop reaching for their canned ideology and demand accountability for all in office, not just a party they don't like.

People talk about Islamacists being indoctrinated? Hell, we have our own equivalent, which makes either the market or Obama into demigods who rightfully have dominion over us and by being owned we shall be free.

That's as ridiculous as any religious dogma.

the pessimistic view you express has existed since the beginning of time.

Reality, which is clearly observable, is when people work to make things better, they get better.

The problems we face aren't any worse, and probably not nearly as bad, as people have faced for centuries.

Science tells us that the liberal brain is much better suited to govern than the conservative brain. What kind of a brain fears government and then wants to be the government. That's insanity. Obama has a liberal brain and Bush has a conservative brain. It will be obvious to liberals then that Obama is the better President and they will have the greater objectivity. Conservatives will prefer Bush because they see an altered reality world. Again, science tells us this. It is a war, so to speak, of Galileo against the church, the backward against the forward leaning. The Scopes trial is happening every day and the monkeys are here to testify. Only some of us evolve.

well, to quote Thomas friedman's book "That used to be US",
bush was the first and only us president, to not only commit america into a war without raising taxes to pay for it, but to lower them... that didn't exactly help the national debt.

berating Obama for the mess he received isn't exactly fair... before bush (the Clinton era), the budget was balanced). then bush fucked it.

Last time I check, GWB is NOT running for re-election, BO is. Might as well to compare Carter to Obama.

That's true. However, GWB was a representative of and implemented the values of the Republican Party which is in fact running a candidate for the presidency.

See the bolded/underlined part from your own sentence? In other words, BO can not run on his current OWN records/accomplishments from the last 3 plus years, therefore...same ole "but..but..but..Bbbbbuuuuuussssshhhh". Gotcha.

Whatever happens to "it's the economy, stupid" chant from the Democrat party? Whatever happens to BO's 1 term proposal on NBC with Matt? I know..I know....it's all Bush's fault 😀

Whatever happened to Obama saying he should be considered a one term president if he did not both repair the economy AND reduce the deficit by half in only three years?

And this here is a great example of Glenn Beck alter-universe history.

You are quite gullible. This sounds like someone was hitting the bottle.

Bush left office with two wars ongoing, one five years old and the other seven years old, that were not paid for. The economy was in the worst shape since the great depression. Then he handed over the keys.

Politically, the condition he left the nation in was his party voted out of power to do anything. Their reaction was to become more extremist, refuse to participate, and obstruct anything the government tried to do (filibuster) to create conditions in which people might vote them back into power.

Politically, economically, militarily, George W. Bush left this nation a mess in every imaginable way. I don't know that if you intentionally tried, you could do much worse.

In other words, Bush was an idiot. He allowed the continuation of deregulation that was put in place to stop another great depression. He left us with none of the normal controls for a recession except to spend our way out of it; apparently, he assumed we finally figured this economy thing out completely and there would never be another down turn ever. He cut taxes while times were good further adding to the bubble. Wasted trillions of dollars in a useless war of aggression. Not to mention all the innumerable other terrible policies he implemented that didn't directly wreck us when the recession hit but were awful all the same. To simply say he was too naive is giving him FAR too much credit.

?? He was and idiot or the American people? Last time I checked the main reason for the meltdown was the housing bubble which can be blamed on every idiotic American who took out a loan and couldn't afford it. The system trusted people had a clue, they didn't. Sure the banks offered the loans and Fannie and Freddy backed them but in the end it was the idiot signing the mortgage that didn't understand the contract.

We now live in a victimized society. Romney's an idiot so please don't take this as support for him. He was off by a few points, I'd say 75% of Americans are now "victims". The American dream is over. Raise our kids to understand that so they'll have a fighting chance.

Take all you can from whomever you can.
Hide what you can so uncle Sam doesn't take it.
Do nothing for the country you now live in. It doesn't give a sh*t about you.

Bush was an amazing president. He opened my eyes to the true nature of America. He believed in person responsibility, education with accountability and violence must be used against evil people. Obama believes in none of these values, nor does Mit.

Steeplerot shows us a great example of Michael Moore alter-universe history.

You couldn't try harder to be a worse person than Bush.

To think how different the world would be if Al Gore were president. How many less people would be dead? How much better would our economy be? It's mind boggling to think about how a few votes changed the course of the world.

Oohhh!! I can play that game too, OneOfTheseDayes!

We would all have terabyte level free high speed Internet wirelessly piped into our houses if Al Gore had won the election! Puppies would fall from the sky, both unhurt AND potty trained!!! Muslims and Jews would have all joined together in love and harmony had Al Gore won the election!

You seem really bored. Maybe go play in traffic? At this point a head injury couldnt help but improve that mess.

I think it's hilarious that the question is even being posed to begin with, let alone people actually saying Bush.

It's almost unfair to critique him for what happened during those two terms, given the role he filled. If I had to choose between 8 years of the Cheney/Rumsfeld/Rove trio and 4 years of Obama, I'd pick Obama in a heartbeat. Guess we'll have to wait another 4 years to make the real comparison though...

No, I do not want to join you in your game of "see who can get hit by a car first". You are too good at it and already have the street for your game. Your multiple head injuries have slowly made you more and more stupid over time...maybe you should stop playing in the street.

Besides, I am already playing the game of "lets pretend Gore would have been awesome had he been elected" game with OneOfTheDays. I understand that your multiple head injuries made it so that you could not see the obvious, even though you quoted it.

The feature of conservatives that makes them assholes is that when presented with evidence of their bubble universe the double down on it and accuse liberals of the same thing in complete defiance of the scientific evidence. This need to ever increase the depths of their mental illness, to deepen their state of denial, is what makes them truly dangerous. They grow sicker day by day. Every fact that could show them their true pathetic state, they turn around, as soon as they memorize it, and use it against liberals. This is exactly how Germany grew more and more to love Hitler and hate the Jews, the liberals of their day.

Moonbeam You need to get a real life you know where you go outside and get fresh air a couple times a day it helps clear your mind. You should also have your basement checked for Radeon Gas. Maybe a trip to a mental health professional is in order as well. I will concede you this, you are a master of gibberish and insane ranting. Please for your sake get some help buddie. I am a conservative

Republicans nominated Romney.

So, shouldn't Obama step aside, since he said he should be considered a one term President? The interviewer kept trying to get him to shut up, but he went on and on anyway about it.

Why did he say that just to actually run anyway?
