Find a bug, reproduce it, report it, wait for a fix.
Then repeat the process after they have fixed it, and see if it's still there.
Repetative, needs lots of patience, and would totally spoil the fun of gaming.
i was a game tester for acclaim back in the day. i did it for free.
They would give us a brand new game at the end for approx 6-7 hours of work with an hour for lunch in the SICK breakroom. It was filled with arcade games!
I got offered full time recently cause they still have my info, but it was only $8 an hour.......and at 24 that doesnt cut it now. I'll just keep taking the volunteer ones cause its fun and i get a free game.
If I was testing High Quality games, then I'd say sure. I don't get bored with doing the same thing for long periods of time. But if it was some hack company putting out crap games, then no way.
Can anyone sign up for the volunteer kind? I'd do that in a heartbeat.
It really depends on who you work for. Nintendo is quite good, EA is quite bad. I have a cousin that for two months got to play a nearly bug free Zelda Wind Waker and get paid. He was able to beat the game in 11 hours w/ 3 hearts. He had fun there. He writes guides for a major game review place now, and it's a crap shoot whether he gets a good one or not. But like I say, a bad day at his job is better than a good day at mine.
I was a game tester for 2 years at Konami. I wouldn't recommend starting in QA as a way to move up...no way. It won't happen. Game testers in the Bay Area do get paid...about 11 - 15 an hour depending on experience. After working in the industry for a while, there's no reason why I'd ever want to go back.
lol:laugh: true... i hate it how EA practices their business. they dont update games, and leave it in the dust after they release it. there are very few updates if not none for any of EA games... they say they will release future cars for NFS but notta never do
