Someone, please take this awful institution of indecision and ineffectiveness. NYC is LOADED with people - no need to add indifferent diplomatic trash to the mix.

I say have Switzerland be the HQ of the UN.

But, any one else want the UN instead? We'll even ship you the building at no cost to you.

EDIT: thread was created as more along the lines as - I am tired of all the traffic in this already congested city.

Much easier to spy on people when it is in your own country. Why else do you think the US pushed to have it headquartered on US soil?

Would you rather have another Hedge fund there?

Its good for NYC and has been a tremendous boon for local businesses. The local prostitutes would need a bailout if they left.

dont forget all the Gypsy taxis

I used to live on 49th st, a few blocks away, and what a ridiculous mess it often was, as they shut down blocks along the routes for top politicians and diplomats well before they get there. And if the president is coming, fogettaboutit.

Seems like a political statement to me.

OP has been updated.

My 30 minute commute turned into 2 hours this morning. If they move the UN to another city, they can properly plan the spacing, etc.

I am not too sure they realized back then how much congestion the UN in NYC would cause.

Heck,.. maybe even create a UN Island? With it's own airport, town, farms, etc. Just keep it out of NYC, we have enough traffic and congestion without the delegates from Whateverstan spending a few weeks here.

Sounds like living in NYC is the real problem. Go somewhere with less people. Now you're going to say, "But I make more money here and I like [insert big city thing here] about NYC"...

Ok then. When the bad gets big enough to overshadow the good, make a change. Until then, be glad things are good enough that you don't want to move despite the drawbacks.

We don't need it frankly,.. but, if they turn the UN building into a hotel,.. it will generate just as much, if not better, revenue for local businesses.

Big cities as A-OK,.. I prefer them. What I don't prefer is adding more congestion to the mix.

The West Side stadium they tried to push on us a few years back??? Fuck that. There is no more space AND we should consider pushing some things out - starting with the UN.

,... hey, would you be interested in the UN if I threw in NYU with it? Lots of hot girls ready to party,.. AND, they are smart! So, you could end up with a doctor, lawyer or something after you are done screwing around.

I'm fine with disbanding it altogether. They do nothing worthwhile, and giving someone else the traffic problems is umethical.
