Who wants crawfish?

I just got back from my dad's house with 25 lbs of boiled crawfish (crayfish for you non-Louisianians). OMG does he know how to cook em.

I was thinking as I peeled off a tail and sucked the salty goodness from the head of an unfortunate "mudbug": I wonder how many people in AT have enjoyed this succulent delicacy? Well?

FYI this is a crawfish.

Been down to New Orleans quite a few times in recent months, and they are good to indulge upon.

But 25 pounds? Damn dude that's a lot.

not sure if you can consider it a delicacy.. it is good though ^^.

Crayfish - North
Crawfish - South (also crawdad)

I grew up in the midwest (which you yankees still think is south LOL) and have caught many a crawdad in the creek behind our backyard.

Never have eaten them but I love seafood and cajun food. So it's still on my "to do" list 🙂

FINAL THOUGHT:

They make great bait for smallmouth bass.

I use to live in Gretna Louisiana when I was a kid. I use to eat crawfish all the time. Haven't touched crawfish since moving to NC, then Texas.

Crayfish is great.

Yankee by chance?

Wow, you've been here 6 years and you still don't know how to read a profile? I would appreciate in the future if you wouldn't accuse me of being American. *shudder*

I forgot to mention, trolling is no way to catch a crawfish.

I'd appreciate in the future, if you wouldn't mistake this pretentious fuckwit for an American. *shudder*

Mmmmm... Crawdads... I can't get any around here. Well, the grocery has them precooked but I don't want to chance trying that crap.

crayfish are okay, they're pretty much just like shrimp + lobster. I'm a huge fan of shrimp but not too big on lobster. I've had some crayfish and they were good, just not amazing. I wouldn't pick them over shrimp.

pfft I ate plenty of those things when I went to Phillips in Ocean City 2 weekends ago for their all you can eat seafood buffet.

I mainly just ate alaskan crab legs though, but I also had a few plates of crawfish and mussels.

It's too bad the season is coming near an end. In late May, I think I ate about 12lbs. plus half a case of Bud Light with a few crabs here and there in one sitting. Heaven...
