One of our Xerox 4135 LPS terminals is a 286 4mb that I have the frequently pleasure of crashing by entering commands to quickly.

I have a Dell 2.8GHz at work, but some of the gals in the office are still using 486 pizza boxes with Windows 3.1 on them!

Holy cr@p! There are very few computers that I won't fix, but that just may be one of them!

Well we have a couple OLD IBM PowerPCs circa 1997ish, but mostly we have these new sexy wireless on wheel laptops 🙂

1.73Dothans 512MB of DDR2, 60GB HDDs, full mouse keyboard, 17 inch monitors 🙂

And the sexy part is the 10 hour battery life(they have an extra battery pack)

Oh and I work in a hospital 😉

Most of the work computers are Dells and fairly decent (P4's)

They do run crappy from the factory though. I don't know why but MIS had someone install XP from scratch and download the drivers from support.dell.com and they run much better. What does Dell put in them that makes them so slow?

A crap load of bloat including language bar and messenger...at least 2 years ago when I used to roll out 15-20 Dells a day for the state, clean images of course 😀

Pentium II 333MHz (with MMX w00t!)
192M RAM
the new one will be a P4 probably ~3GHz, nice jump 🙂

we have a 386 that i still have to use for certain FRB stuff and a few dummy terminals, but i'm only counting what you mainly use on a daily basis.

I used to use a system the same spec as yours. Except it was a pentium 3. For word and excel it was alright (only a window or two opened at once) but once I started opening autocad at the same time ...... Zzzzz I could take naps in between the loading times.

I just got my desktop upgraded from a 1GHz PIII, 512MB

The new box is a 3.8GHz P4, 2GB ram, 2x250GB HD. Got FC5 installed yesterday, I'll be moving my stuff over a bit later.

All I really needed was a better video card and more RAM on the old box - the real work gets done via SSH on the cluster. But I'm not arguing 😀
