I got some really cheap sometime last year and I still have them. Last summer, before I had my router with internet run to my bedroom, I used them to burn files that I downloaded on my dad's computer to transport them to my machine.

I will starting tomorrow, I have had my old Plextor 8/20X SCSI CDR for almost three years now. The thing is a tank and burned over 2000 CDR's. But I'm getting my Cendyne 32/12/40 tomorrow.

I have Verbatim Datalife CDRW for things like backups. I don't use CDRW for any long-term storage, but there are a lot of occasions where I want to make a data CD that I only need for a specific job or short-term only. Instead of throwing another CDR away, I'll use a CDRW. Its kept probably 30 or so CDR discs out of the land fills so far. Not a huge deal, but imagine 30 discs x 10 million people....small gestures done on a large scale can make a difference.

i recently began to use them becuz sometimes, if i only need to burn something temporarily, and it's really small, i feel like i am wasting a cdr. so i use a cdrw instead. it's kinda helpful especially when u run low on cdr's :)

Same here, they're a great substitute for floppies for things like copying downloaded drivers to a system I'm setting up (especially since the RW's readable by DOS). With "quick erase" it only takes an extra minute to wipe the RW clean next time I use it.

Edit: And I also agree keeping a bunch of CDR's out of the landfill is a Good Thing.

Formatting CD-RW's takes less then a minute. At least with Nero and my 4x4x6x burner.

I have several game ISO's that I burn to a CD-RW when I feel like installing/playing those games. I also make one music mix CD at a time, then reburn it with new music when I am bored with the old stuff.

Its nice when you can reduce, reuse, and recycle!

good for temporary car audio mixes. 10x isn't so bad. good for when your desperate for space or just want to transport drivers(which go out of date in no time) or documents etc.

just because cdr's are cheap, no need to be wasteful:p

I usually burn to cdrw normally then erase if I want to change content & reburn with the updated content.

I have maybe about 5 CDRW's. I use them for quick things like a driver that a friend needs or some large files that a friend needs and is quicker than uploading it to someone.

I also hate to fill up more landfills. I don't think about it but it saves me a 30 cent CD and a little bit of a landfill. :)

I use them to carry stuff between home and office / clients.

Now that I have a few 12x CD-RW it's a lot faster to burn/format them.

CD-RW's save me a lot of dough in CD-R's.
