i got an $12 oil change at the walmart supercenter in faquay, NC. the oil change includes the filter. this is the 1st time i;'ve ever been to this one.

they charged me an extra $1.50 because they didnt have oil filters in the work area. they had to walk into the store, and get one from the shelf.

i have a 2002 chevy prizm, which is the same as a corolla.

arguing w/the cashier did no good.

anyone have email addr of the division/regional walmart hq?

umm... I would have went to the manager of the store location which you were at and gave him hell. That $1.50 charge would have been removed ;)

Resistance is futile.

I would complain first to the department manager. If that is unsuccessful, then the store manager, then the BBB. Do you have proof that the filter is included? What about the fine print?

And is $1.50 worth your time? Just take your business elsewhere--the little garages need your business!

I guess that you don't care about your car all that much.
The charge is bogus nonetheless. Go into the store and see the manager.

I agree. I understand the 'it's the whole principle of the thing' argument, but you're already getting an oil change at a dirt cheap price - even with the $1.50 tacked on it's probably cheaper than most places. I had mine changed there a few times. I liked it because I could get some shopping done while I waited and they were cheap. But they can be VERY slow sometimes. I'm trying to support my local mechanics now and take it there since they're almost as cheap.

You should have complained to the manger, but... 1.50? That is pretty cheap. Seriously.

$13.50, and you're complaining? It costs me close to $30 to do mine by myself.

Sadly, I work at a Wal-Mart... but here is who you wanna go to:

1.TLE manager
2. Any assistant Manager
3. ask for Co Manager
4. if all else fails, ask for Store manager

Don't waste your time at the customer service desk, or any lackey cashier. they have no power to do anything. You need to talk to someone in management.

Although as a rule, do not take your car to a Wal-mart TLE. It may be cheaper but with these retards messing with your car, you get what you pay for. ASE Certified...not Wallyworld certified. ;)

On the back of your receipt, there's the number of the General Manager at the walmart you're at. The manager's name should be on it too. Just call that number and ask to speak to the General Manager (ask by name if you can). When he/she gets on, complain and be as obnoxious as possible. For some reason, if you're obnoxious, they'll be on the defensive and help you out more. Worked for me.

The Store Manager will have the main store number listed on the receipt, but talking to him/her may not do any good. Talk to the manager of the Tire and Lube Express. At every wal-mart I've ever seen, the filter is included in the price. If they say that the filter isn't included, tell them that you didn't authorize them to change the filter and that you want your old one put back on.

Its not uncommon for lube places to charge more for odd/specialty filters. Although I'm surprised the filter on a prizm falls into that catagory.

ehh walmart oil changes suck. the last time I got the "best value" the guy didn't tighten my windshield wipers. Next time it was monsoon'ng I flicked the wipers and the driver side wiper loosened up around 1/2 through it's cycle and basically just got stuck and started jamming the passenger side wiper. Ridiculous. The guys couldn't tighten a f*cking nut.

I'll have to agree with that... I started having problems with my car heavily leaking oil after taking my car there (took it to my mechanic and it wsn't anything wrong with the oil filter, so I don't know if it's related to having an oil change at wallyworld.... but the problems started the same day I had the oil change done, once I got home). I also went there to get my battery replaced when it died over the summer (would've gone elsewhere, but I needed to get one right away so I could get home from work that day)... it took them forever to change out the battery, and when they were finished, the dumbass that put the securing bracket back on the battery put it on upside-down. Never again am I taking my car to wallyworld for something like that.

Oh yeah, I was driving a 1993 Ford Escort.... not exactly the most difficult car to replace a battery in. If I would've had the time to do it myself that day, I would've replaced the battery myself instead of taking it into Walmart to have done.

If I were still there on location, I'd try to get the $1.50 back... but if I've left... it's chump change... not enough to worry yourself over.

I didn't know Wal-Mart did oil changes. I learn something new everyday. For something as important as an oil change, I'd go elsewhere.
