Who thinks I am going to get fired tomorrow?

Short version:
I got fired.

Long version:
I got to work a little early after stopping of to take advantage of my McDonalds buy one get one breakfast sandwich coupon. I didn't want to go in hungry. My manager was there and I sat around and bullshitted with him for an hour or so. We went outside to grab a smoke and I asked him what I was going to do today. He said that we were waiting for the Area Director to get there. That wasn't a good sign, since the AD literally doesn't even know how to get to our store. We sat around and chatted until the AD got there, then had to wait for him to get off his cell. The whole exchange took a couple seconds, but he told me that they were not going to continue my employment. I said fine. They asked for my company issued BlackBerry and I proceeded to wipe all texts, emails and browsing history and took out my memory card. He asked if I had any other questions and I said I just had one.

"My kid's mom ran up my bill last month. Can you take care of that for me?" 😀

He started laughing and said he could see why I am so successful in sales. I am never afraid to ask for what I want. Then he said no. 🙁

file a complaint for relief with the USDOL Secretary of Labor

unless you have something better to do, unemployment is up to 7.2%, there are no jobs for you

you got disability for PAWS? is that even recognized by medical boards? i heard about it months ago but couldn't find any legit documentation on it.

isn't that like, lawsuit time?

No, he exceeded his 12 week allotment of FMLA job protection. All his boss has to say is that he was terminated for excessive absenteeism outside of the FMLA protection.

Note: This is under the assumption that they did not grant him this time off under a personal leave, and, as he has yet to explain to me how he got >12 weeks of time off, it is the assumption I will operate under.

Edit: Granted, his company will still have to pay out the ass even to settle a lawsuit, so if he wants to be a dick, he should go ahead and file.

I don't know how long FMLA usually lasts, I do know that I had to keep going back to the doc to get it recertified. Work granted me all time off without any hassle on their end. My first month was covered under sick time and vacation time, the rest was short term disability.

I am not the lawsuit kind. I might look into it if its an outright violation of some law. I had every right to take the time off and my employer had every right to fire me once I got back. The good news is that there are some really good state programs that help unemployed people go back to school. I might do some serious checking on that soon.

Crap, I was wrong.

First off, what was the reason? If none was given, I'd ask for one.

He was very careful not to give one but I did ask. He simply said that they had decided to pursue other staffing solutions. Works for me, makes for a quick and easy unemployment claim!

Yeh, well we all know why you were let go.

Definitely sounds like it's time to contact a GOOD employment attorney.

While the company MAY be within their rights to let you go...they may also be in violation of the FLMA laws or other state laws preventing termination for medical reasons.

Maybe you could designated as "handicapped" and get them under the ADA!

A. I am happy that you are taking your canning like a man. FMLA is BS. If you are too sick to work, your poor employer should not be forced to have to keep paying your worthless ass. I know by stupid law, they are, I'm just saying I don't agree with the stupid law.

B. I am not so happy to hear you are planning on becoming a state-funded sponge. You are too old for primary vocational training if you are over 25. Get a fucking job!
