Who should the Lakers trade Shaq for? (Poll)

there's no way mavs are giving up norwitzki. no way.

and i hope martin stays in brook.

and funny thing, they mentioned during the draft that shaq told some peeps in vegas that he would consider sac. shaq a queen? i hope not.

Dirk is off limits, period. Cuban isn't trading the jewel of the team for a guy who has probably 2-3 years left in him. Everyone else is almost expendable, but not Dirk. I'm inclined to say the Lakers will end up doing a trade with Dallas - who is involved I can't say for sure, but the one main who won't be leaving is Dirk.

Thing is, Shaq can give any team who's on the bubble that extra push they need to win it all. Look at Dallas--they're right there in the thick of the Western Conference's strongest teams, but they need defense and rebounding, two things Shaq can (hopefully) give them. Offensively, Dallas can still score with the best teams even without Nowitzki.

I still think the Lakers should deal for K-Mart, though...I don't think the Lakers should deal Shaq to any team the Lakers would have to play at least 4 times in the regular season, not to mention play in the playoffs (Finals aside).

k-mart and who else ? shaq is the game's most dominant player. you need more than one
quality player in return.

dallas might consider . . .

-notwitzki
-marquis daniels
-devon harris

lakers . . .

-shaq
-derek fisher
-draft pick and/or another player (briank cook/slava ?)

i would've loved to have seen a trade to the pacers . .. bring back jermaine o'neal,
artest, and bender. very unlikely but then the lakers could've then went after a quality
free agent power forward (boozer, stromile swift) and rounded out their team well.

The Lakers would be stupid to trade Shaq for anyone on the Mavs team. Unless of course they want to become even worse at defense.

BTW, the thread was created on 6/24 and Nash was still with the Mavs at that time.

daniels played excellent in the playoffs. the kid was only a roook yet proved he can compete
in the playoffs. defensively, he's much better than nash. he has excellent size for a point
guard (6'6") ! !

devon harris is a scorer. good size. he can play both guard positions. with kobe, daniels, harris,
payton, kareem rush, and possibly vujacic, if he's proves to be a player, their backcourt would
tire anyone out !

true, nowitzki sucks defensively. the lakers are losing not only the greatest center in the league,
but any center that could give this team any contribution from the five position. if they lose shaq
they have nothing there, and they need to compensate. stromile swift would look good here, but
all this is unlikely.

All the Lakers can do is bend over and kiss their butts good bye. Though I'm not a hardcore fan of Shaq, I respect him. He's irreplaceable. With all the white guys on the team, the Lakers are turning into the Utah Jazz 😉
